QLD: A big shout for Boxstop at Slacks Creek for auto trans service. http://www.boxstopautomatics.com.au/
They offer competant advice and don't rip you off with automagical BS. My brother went in there with a slipping trans in his EL and $65 later left with a new gearbox mount and a topped up trans fluid. He's very happy. Boxstop are honest. Cheers!

Time for an Adelaide Shout out:
Kudos to Elite Finish @ Somerton Park - After finally getting the hassles sorted with a paint issue on my new Territory, I had Hamish detail and opti-coat the car. I have to say, it looks $1,000,000 now and I am very impressed. Hamish is a 1 person business, who puts in the effort and I would highly recommend him to anyone in the area. Cheers |

We bought a SZ TX limited during the Run out in January. The example that we bought was an August build that had been sitting in the show room at the dealer that we bought it from. During pickup, we did as thorough as an inspection as we could. During this inspection we found a small irregularity in the paint work on the front passengers door, just under the mirror. It looked like it has been scratched or chipped, touched up, but it was also odd, as there was a light spot next to it. The sales guy marked it down on the sheet and advised us to get the service department to look at it @ the 3k service. When the service came around, it was just before we went on a driving holiday, so we were told to contact them again when it we were back. There was a whole bunch of too'ing and fro'ing between us and the service guys for another 6 weeks, until they SPOKE to the sales manager, who then organised it to be fixed within 2 days. (In the end, the service dept looked lazy, the sales guys covered themselves in glory as far as I am concerned). So, 2 panel shops looked at it (service guys sent me to 1, sales manager sent me to another) and both said it looks like it may have been damaged at some point in time, probably a big chip and someone has tried to buff it out. It appears that they had then buffed through the clear coat. The second panel shop that it went to did the repair, which consisted of a respray of the door. We did have one more issue - when we picked up the car from the panel shop and the first time I saw it in the sun after it had been there, we noticed massive swirl marks on the front guard, that were not there before. The panel shop said that they did not touch the guard and that it must be due to washing, working on, removing the crappy glaze that the dealer probably coats the car in to make it look schmick. The dealer then paid for this to be corrected. In the mean time, we also had the panel shop respray the bonnet and the front guard. This was to fix up the multitude of stone chips that was served up to us from some dick doing 90 KM/H, driving on the verge, on our trip to Vic. Obviously, we had to foot the bill on that one (still trying to decide whether to claim it on insurance, but its probably not worth the hassle). In reality, the issue was a bit of a non event, just something that needed to be fixed. But, in typical car yard/service department fashion, it was dragged out months longer then it should have been. The moral to the story as far as I am concerned, is to have all issues sorted before accepting delivery. That was our mistake. SO.....after all that, opti-coat has now been applied... sorry for the long reply, but you did ask! Cheers Last edited by ShootsWithFilm; 20-07-2013 at 04:55 PM. |

Here's a shout out for Tony Porter Fabrications at Biggera Waters here on the Gold Coast. Short story was I needed some gutter ramps made. Sounds simple, till you start asking around. Remarks from some fabricators were 'got any plans drawn up mate' come back when you have.I'll be round Tuesday, how early can I come around 6am ok, Yes I replied, no show. Yes mate I'll ring with a quote, no ring. Yep we can do them, quoted $2200, Yeah right. Well I rang Tony and he came round when agreed, had a look and in 2 mins was making up some templates and taking measurements there and then. Emailed quote the next day at a quarter the previous quote. He got the job. A week later all done as agreed. We werent home when they arrived and when I placed them down they needed a slight adjustment so I rang Tony. 10 mins later bloke arrived took ramp back and delivered back all good. A mate who has some welding experience checked them out and gave them a AAA+++ rating.
For a small job I got big service at a great price. Tony has previously worked for Stone Brothers Racing which is where I think he learned to do things quickly. Either way there may not be many of you on the Goldy who need fab work but if you do then give Tony a ring. Check out his website. http://www.tonyporterfabrications.com.au/, or Facebook https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/TO...490043?fref=ts Thanks Tony.

Fraser Ford, Proserpine, Queensland.
Brought my new F6 there for it's first 15,000km service (did the 7,500 myself). Considered driving back to Townsville (600km round trip) as thats where I bought it and they are an FPV dealer. Then I thought 'bugger it I'll give Fraser a go', well I'm glad I did, they did the service for a whole lot less than the advertised $375 capped price service cost, even though we agreed on the $375. They noticed an oil leak on the front right shockie which was ordered in and booked for replacement under warranty without any hesitation. I had no idea as the car handles perfectly. The car was filthy from a 300+ km drive from work and they detailed it after the service, it's black and I couldn't find one watermark which is pretty bloody impressive. So those of you in the Proosy/Airlie area thinking of travelling to Mackay or Townsville just because they have an FPV sign outside the dealership, think again...... Thanks Fraser Ford, you've earned a long term customer!! |

Athol Park wreckers in SA. Stuart has helped me out with Explorer parts I needed - especially fuel tank, system etc to convert it from LPG back to petrol. Excellent service and then looked after me by giving a decent discount when I went back to them for more parts (cats etc).

Could anyone please recommend a panel beater in Perth for my '71 Ford Escort? The company I had lined up which almost exclusively dealt with escorts have switched over to trucks.
I tried looking for this info using the search function but nothing came up. |

I would like to thank Reece and the guys at Maughan Thiem Mt Barker for their help with my mums Fiesta today.
My dad has alzheimers and mum can't leave him alone to drop off or pickup her car which I usually do for her but today I wasn't able to due to work commitments. The problem was with the clutch pedal so mum couldn't have driven it anyway. The guys at Maugham Thiem picked up and dropped off the car which made life much easier for everyone, they also said that they can provide this whenever she needs it. So a huge thanks for what I consider to be oustanding service. |

A big thumbs up to the manager at Beaurepaires Epping Vic. I dropped off a wheel and tyre with a puncture this morning and said I needed it by midday 'cos of work. I arrived just before 12 picked up my tyre and was told it was free of charge! Needless to say I was gobsmacked. That $35 dollars saved helps alot in this day and age and I will definately be buying my new tyres from this store when the time comes.

Solar Style Window Tinting - Brisbane
Shannon does an top shelf job at reasonable prices using decent film, Iv'e had a couple of cars done by him using 3M Black 35 film for $300 each and the workmanship was perfect on both occasions. He actually has his workshop at Brisbane BMW's pre-delivery yard at Eagle Farm and does all their tinting work .... if he's good enough to be let loose on brand new $150k BMW's I reckon he must be doing a top job otherwise they'd give him the flick obviously. http://www.solarstyle.net.au/ |

PARTSDENCOM,
I returned a faulty dizzy vacuum module, posted 10.00am Tues and a new unit was delivered by post by 12.00 noon Friday. Really appreciate this type of service which reinstates your faith in the Ebay suppliers, particularly after being burned by a unscrupulous dudder. |

Race Brakes Sydney - Matt (FLOORED on here)
Matt has sorted out my new rear brakes without any hassle and has also given me a good price compared to other quotes i had. a few PM's back and forth to sort out exactly what i needed (damn parts change half way through model runs). just an indicator on prices, jax tyres wanted almost $500 for supply and fit, supercheap wanted $120 per rotor and $35 for rubbish pads/$80 for bendix. that was enough of getting local prices (i'm in newcastle). Matt/FLOORED has come through with slotted/dimpled rotors and matching pads delivered for a better price (close to half) than the other places could get 'normal' rotors and cheap pads. this is the second time i have bought through him, the first time was probably 5 years ago buying for my falcon and this time for my new (to me) renault. i'll no doubt be calling back next time i need some new parts (like matching rotors to stick on the front of my car). i PM'd Matt yesterday to see if he wanted me to call him for payment and told him i wasn't in a rush and to sort out other people first if they were in a hurry (pre xmas rush/summernats), i called him today to give hime my credit details and was happily suprised when he told me my parts should be delivered today or monday -tim

Received outstanding service at Adrian Brien Ford corner of South Rd and Ayliffes Rd in Adelaide, across from the old Mitsubishi plant.
Took my G6 in armed with an RAA report for warranty work being 2 engine oil leaks and a torn rear bush. They had the car 2 days and while the cradle was dropped they did the other bushes even although they weren't on the RAA report. When I dropped the car off I mentioned that the drivers door rubber was split and that got added on to the repairs. If I have the tiniest of complaints it was they were overly polite calling me "Sir" all the time. Okay as an opening greeting but once they know your Christian name that would suffice. |

Chloe from ozzy tyres, I had sent through an email enquiry when I wanted to order some rims and tyres but have a low daily limit on my debit card, called me straight away, sorted direct debit, offsets and tyre sizes and discounted freight as there free shipping only went as far as brissy.

Hey all,
I’d just like to give a shout out to Geoff at Knox Drive Shaft Services. I had a smashed (and I do mean smashed) rear uni joint on the XB. I took out the drive shaft and gave it a clean and sent it off with my wife to drop off. I was just expecting to have the rear uni joint replaced, but when I got it out of my wife’s car THE NEXT DAY it was like new... both uni joints done, balanced and he even painted it! All for the princely sum of $160. Here’s his info (I hope it’s OK to post this up) Knox Drive Shaft Services 73 Bursaria Ave, Ferntree Gully VIC 3156 (03) 9758 4015 Geoff is the owner. Cheers, Kraig
