You see Jaguar is Very smart! They realise an inline 6 is more inherently balanced, has less cams and internal components, less friction hence more torque and power! Ford should stick to an inline 6 as well for future models!

modular engines --cost of tooling. 3,4 and 6. 1.5-2.0-3.0 all markets covered with one engine bay layout.

Inline 6 has more market presence in some other markets.

I'd like to believe that article, but they're still quoting the current V6 ad being Ford sourced whereas it's based on the new Jaguar V8.

When Ford Aistralia developed the Barra there wasnt many large capacity DOHC L6 engines BMW and Jaguar were two of them. Ford owned Jaguar at the time so rhat gave Broadmeadows easy access to the technology and they also used an BMW M5 during the development.

G'day...Only a few days ago I found this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txMB_B9qyeU ..Have a look how many comments feature the BARRA....This revolves around some pretty great motors and our BARRA gets several votes for sure...Cheers Rod..

What car would it be going in? apart from Mustang (which doesn't wear the Ford badge) all the cars will have transversely fitted engines

Hello,

I prefer an inline as there are less parts, and they are smoother. But a V6 can be fitter to more Cars as north south or east west. Often when a head gasket fails, it is the back as it is hotter. If Ford still owned Jag there would be a chance the Barra could be used, but it would most likely be made in the UK.

The XF Jag currently has 10 engine variations with some pretty impressive specs.

the new 3.0I6 will be available in the below

3.0-litre inline-six will reportedly be offered in 224kW (300hp), 298kW (400hp) and 373kW (500hp) trims, while the diesel version will come in 205kW (275hp), 250kW (335hp) and 298kW (400hp) forms.

I see no need for them to look at the Barra.
