Default made a CAI this arvo

hey all, i have been driving around my ed xr6 for a while with a k&n panel filter, but never got around to actually making a way for more air to get into the box.. Anyway, i bought extractors about 2 weeks ago, and today i decided i'd cut out the front of the box above the filter, so that it pulls more cold air in from behind the headlight..
Results:
It is alot better, the car revs easier up higher, and it now has room to breathe. The car makes a mental noise when the foot is down, and has definately gained more power, and better throttle response.
Anyways its a great budget mod, and id recommend it for a cheap CAI..
Thanks,
Nathan

Yeah, i used to love my old EA for that. Had the best sounding induction noise if you removed the lid, and just clipped the filter in place. Used to roar like a lion.
I tryed it on my AU when i bought it, but it didn't do a thing. The only problem was I was constantly foot to floor so I could get that awesome noise hehe.

What do you mean 'cut it above the filter'?

Why even have a filter then? You're gonna suck leaves and crap into the engine.

EA - ED airboxes are the reverse of the EF onwards ones.

..when i say above the filter, the flow follows as below..

air comes through intake, and hole that was cut, goes through the filter then goes through to the engine..
