I don't think its any secret that how close you get to advertised fuel-economy depends largely on your driving style.
Unfortunately my wife is hopeless, always has been and won't be told. Treats the throttle and brake as on-off switches. Sigh. So my question is, if we were to consider different vehicles/engines all claiming similar economy, which is she going to hurt the least with her appalling driving? I've pretty much ruled out any form of ecoboost or similar turbo setup, because with her it would be all boost and no eco. I'm tempted by diesel, except I know she'll be driving in a perpetual cloud of soot with her foot flat to the floor. What happens when you flog a hybrid? The other thing I'd like to know is how easy it is to get various examples de-tuned? |
