Default Exhaust tips: improved sound?

Sup all?

I'm considering installing an exhaust tip on my car and I just wanted to know if there is any difference in the sound of the vehicle? I want a deeper sound than I have now and really don't want to go out and get myself a new exhaust system due to the fact my current one is in perfect working order and that I am on a budget.

I have a 1985 Ford Meteor GC2 Ghia (1.6 litre 4 cyl.) and it has a 1.25" exhaust on it. Still stock I think it is. Just got the muffler replaced which is another reason for me not to get a new exhaust system.
