Default Issue this morning

Good afternoon

For those who were on earlier and noticed some strange issues, here is an explanation of what actually went on.

Last night we ordered a RAM upgrade to be installed in the server as a means to assist performance. This is normally a straightforward task that requires 10 minutes of downtime which we scheduled for 1.00 a.m

Apparently there was an issue with the primary hard disk failing when the server was restarted and the tech then installed a new hard disk and restored the db from an old copy (October 2006) as he didn't realise it had a RAID array.

Once we realised the issue we contacted them and they have rebuilt the array from the mirror so that the database is now fully restored as of the time it was taken off line which was 1.20 a.m today.

Any posts that were made between then and now are gone.

We will be reviewing our backup strategies although there is probably not more that we could have done to avoid the knowledge gap at their end.

Our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you had changed your password this morning to access the forum it will now have reverted to your original one.

Regards
Russ
