Default Anyone know much about mid 90's Mitsu Lancers?

Didn't know where else to put this so I thought I'd give it a shot here. I'm having a rather large issue with the missus 1994 CC Lancer hatch and it has me stumped. It's leaking water into the front drivers footwell and it appears to be coming from below the A pillar and behind the kick panel on that side causing a fair swimming pool when it rains. I've had a fair look around and just can't figure out how it is getting into the car but what I can see is that there is a plastic open ended tube that goes nowhere in the same spot. I've had a hose run on it when I was looking there and could feel the water coming in but couldn't see how and it wasn't through the tube. Any help would be appreciated as I'm sick of foggy windows and wet feet when I drive it to work (4 cyl much cheaper to run to Melb and back than the XR). The windscreen is getting replaced tomorrow so that will eliminate a windscreen leak (damn thing is cracked the entire width of it) but I don't think this will solve my problem.
