Default Holy Smokes Batman!

Original Batmobile goes on sale

US-based company Fiberglass Freaks has released to the market authentic, road-legal, replicas of the original Batmobile from the 1960s TV series Batman.

Yes, the same beauty that actors Adam West and Burt Ward rode from 1966 to 1968 in their crusade against evildoers.

Each Batmobile sells for approximately $162,700 and features, among other things, a GM 350 crate engine, a red flashing red beacon light and a working flame thrower.

But not everything in these replicas is vintage: the Batmobiles also include a DVD player, an LCD screen and a high-end stereo with six speakers, two amps and a sub-woofer.

Each car takes six months to build, is numbered and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

According to Fiberglass Freaks, only eight cars per year will be manufactured.

Fiberglass Freaks founder and brains behind the Batmobile replicas, Mark Racop, saw his first episode of the TV series when he was 2 years old, and immediately fell in love with “the action, the music, the colour, but, most of all, the car.”
The Batmobile replicas come with the blessing of DC Comics, the company that owns all the trademarks and copyrights for Batman and all related characters, vehicles, props, symbols and other elements.

Always wanted a car with a flamethrower...
