Default polishing alloy rocker cover

i removed my cover today, grabbed the buff and some brasso (i ran out of the "purple stuff" metal polish i would normally use for work)

and i started going to town on it with the wool pad.

it came up pretty well, and the vertical lines look like chrome...

what are peoples techniques to do it properly??

i was thinking should i rub it all with 1500grit to get the surface baby smooth?

there are alot of impurities in it, hence why the polish finish isnt amazing.

its looks OK, but put it this way, if you payed me to do it for you, you would probably be dissapointed...

thanks in advance guys
