My brother regularly imports Mustangs from the US.
If he buys one thats a bit of a clunker AQIS (Aust Quarintine Inspection Service) go over the car, it has to be specially hosed down in a special booth thats catches all the crud etc. It then has to be inspected and given the all clear. However if it's a really nice one it just gets a tick, and a quick look over to make sure (supposedly). Now this all comes at a price of course that all adds to the import cost. So yesterday we had 2 dropped off by the tow truck direct from AQIS. Open the bonnet on the fastback and bugger me the first thing I see is a snake skin where a snake has rubbed up alongside the brake master cylinder to shed it's skin. There's also dirt and gravel. Big question is "Where's the snake?" Previously we've found leaf litter, spiders, candy in the console (which someone could easily substitute for some sort of drug), orange peel etc. So, so much for protecting our borders.
