ok so my daughter's Focus Zetec....well she needed new front tyres as the current set were bald (and I mean smooth). Only lasted 4500km as the tracking was miles out. I think she'd hit a kerb although she claims not .
When we got the car back the steering wheel wasn't centred so I took it off and went to reattach in the new position when suddenly the steering column retracted about 4" into itself. I found a long bolt with the same thread and can pull it back out but it's under spring tension and wont stay put. After searching the internet I found some threads which describe the issue but none are clear on how to fix it. Anyone have any ideas? Apparently if you're going to do this then having the steering lock engaged will stop it occurring.... |
