If there was negligence involved, the surviving family member dependents are entitled to sue for loss of dependency- ie a compensation to relatives action. In addition, for nervous shock damages.

This by no means will compensate them for their horrific loss.

Just horrendous for everyone involved- at least there will be a full coronial hearing with formal findings of "manner and cause of death" which hopefully will result in other humans not having to suffer such a tragedy.
