Default Sony head unit not working - MC zetec.

The Sony unit in my MC Zetec seems to have died. It's not completely dead but theres no sound from any source and the display/function isn't normal. Here's some info on what is/isn't happening.

- The sony display mostly only shows current time, in the top right corner. Its the same when car is off and on.
- When I press most buttons there's no change in the display and no action (CD/AUX, RADIO, PHONE, 1,2,3..., ON/OFF).
- If press CLOCK I can see the settings and set normally
- If I press eject it displays "CD ejecting" and will eject normally.
- If I use convers+ screen to select radio station, or CD track etc there's no action.
- I cannot connect phone via bluetooth.

I thought I could just pull the fuse for the Audio system to reset, but it did nothing. The head unit didn't even loose power. Central fuse box F21.

Might disconnect the battery?

any tips?

cheers
