Default Need advice please, how to remove water pump on KJ Laser

Hi everyone,

I have a 95 Ford KJ Laser 1.8 and I am in the process of replacing the water pump. I have undone everything and the water pump is free but I am unable to manoeuvre it out past either the top or bottom of the front of the engine.

I’m not sure there would be sufficient gap between the front of the engine and the inner frame rail to remove the pump upwards, noting there is also that part of the front engine mount bracket that is bolted to the side of the engine under the driver side of the intake manifold which protrudes forward of the engine.

On the lower part of the front side of the engine there is the oil dip stick tube which seems to be stopping the pump from dropping down and being removed past the bottom front of the engine. I have tried removing the oil dip stick tube but it seems to be very tightly stuck in place. Does anyone know whether it can be removed and if so how.

Can anyone tell me exactly how to remove the water pump.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Regards
Michael
