It was shown on tv during '95 I think. Probably the coolest aussie fictional tv series to ever come out here. I ended up buying the complete dvd boxset the other day just to bring back memories. The story is about a young Sydney boy named Paul who by playing a prank ends up accidentally opening up a portal doorway into a parallel dimension and then becoming trapped in that other dimension. A young girl named Riana ends up helping him survive in her world and his friends manage to rescue him but in turn end up bring chaos to both worlds. Kind of like Sliders but more interesting. Most of it is based apon magnetic electrical energy. Check out all the info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spellbinder_(TV_series) Anybody else remember this? In my opinion its way better than all the other shows out. out: |

Used to love the show and the books.
One of my mums good friend's sister is Heather Mitchell the actress that played the main spell binder, the one with the red hair.

Great series, and there wasn't just the one series either. There was a second one called Spellbinder: Land of the Dragon Lord". They were both great.
One of the actors in the second series is Anthony Wong, who went on to play 'Ghost' in the Matrix: Reloaded and Matrix: Revolutions films.

yeah, remember it well.
I also wanted to bone Riana. Us kids used to mock that whining dweeb that was with her. He was always squealing "What about Riana!?". I also enjoyed Pugwall, Saturdee... didn't care much for Round the Twist or Secret Valley though. |
