Default Gran Turismo 4 VS Forza Motorsport

Alright Guys ive been seeing alot of talk about both of these games. and before i go buying either console and either game i want to know alittle about each one...

Now im not asking which one is the best, that i will judge for myself and which one will suit me....so dont try and convince me that xbox is better than ps2 cause its microsoft blah blah blah lol.....

Just give me straigh up facts about each game....Ie cars. tracks. modifications anything that you think is usefull. like how it works carrer mode how long it takes to finnish and fun factor. things like that...

Thanks guys

i play forza and i think it is great..
i cant really do a comparo because i only have the xbox. i chose the xbox for the simple modding and can now use it as a media centre with the 120gig drive i got in it.

forza has great gameplay i think and the graphics are pretty good. there is a long career that you can complete, along with an arcade mode with more races etc. it has a cool thing caller drivatar which allows you to teach the computer how to drive for you, v handy for the course/car combo's that you dont like doing urself!!

id recommend it.

GT4: More cars and more tracks (I think).

Forza: Engine conversions, realistic damage and fun factor.

IMO both are pretty cool.

Had both for a while now and I often find myself playing both, for a few days.

Also exhaust notes on Forza crap on GT4. I hate on GT4, when you buy a old Camaro or something and put a racing exhaust on it, how it sounds like a Skyline. :

GT4.
Pros: The amount of cars
The graphics
Tuneability
Realism
Amount of tracks
Cons: No skidmarks left when doing a burnout
Limited driftability
No damage
No Ferraris or the sort

Forza.
Pros: Awesome drifting
Nice black marks left on the road
Sound of the cars
Engine swaps
Downhill and uphill tracks
Damage

Cons: Graphics are good, but not GT4 good
No Aussie cars
Not as good tuneability
Addicting

I like GT4 for the serious stuff, but Forza wins handsdown for the fun you can have.

Forza is probably a better game. I bought a PS2 essentially to play GT4 and GTA: San Andreas and i love GT4, but its a very trying game.

It can be bloody boring, annyoing and down right stupid at times- I curse the makers a lot the time for insisting on including stupid things from previous versions. Stuff like licence tests, craptacular menu system, pointless concept cars and bizzare AI (one car will be 50* faster than the other 4 AI cars), plus the fact that every car sounds exactly the same does kills alot the shine.

I still pray for the day that someone blends the exansiveness of Gran Turismo with the fun of games like Need For Speed properly.

You can drift in GT4.. but by default all the cars have traction control and stability management.

You can drift.

From what i gather Forza and Project Gotham (incl 3) are arcade games compared to gt4.

I found that at about 65% of completion of GT4, I had done all of the races I liked plus as many boring ones as I could tolerate. The fun factor of GT4 is pretty low as its very difficult to find opponents with appropriate difficulty. I find that I either win by a huge margin or lose by a huge margin. Never any dicing with your opponents. The 'Stage 1/2/3/4 Turbo/NA tuning' type name for upgrades are also a bit lame in my opinion. And its disappointing that you can't adjust the character of the car when tuning it. I loved the fact that in NFSU2, you could chuck your car on the dyno and change the ecu maps and boost maps. The other thing I disliked about GT4 was the fact that there were many inexplicable modification restrictions. For instance, only a couple of cars could be supercharged. I mean, what the hell? Any engine in the world can be supercharged. Some require more modification than others but all can be done in some way.

For me Forza wins hands down, the fun you can have in that game, the things you can do to the cars is even better, wheel choice is better, mod choice is better, infact you can do burnouts etc and its funner then in GT4. You can even disable the ABS system and drifting in a stock car is easy and controlable. In fact i think i'm gonna go play forza now!
Only thing i think GT4 has going for it is the graphics and the amount of cars in it.

Depends what you define as fun I guess.

Ive only played GT4 and I am at the point (87%) that the stuff left to do is insane, and for super geeks.

GT4 keep me busy for ages, months, but I only play it now when I have someone worth playing it against.

All Forza needs, is the amount and variety of cars in GT4 and it would very easily be the greatest racing game ever.

koolies thanks guys. well i like the fact that GT has the Focus and the Falcon. if i was going to buy the Xbox it would be 360. and i would get ridge racer and all that.

i have a PC with NFS 3 up till carbon. but i find that it lacks realism. i want something thats sorta realistic but still fun. i might have to get an emulator and download it on my computer.....then buy the Xbox360 for PGR3, RR6 both very cool games.

thanks guys

i have both, forza has picked up dust, i havent played it in a year, its boring, im waiting for 360 and forza 2 to arive, GT4 for me all the way, photo mode,FPVs, no damage ( i ****en hate damage, getin hit by stupid AI,damaging my car runing my replays when i drive perfect, lamee ) especially in v8 supercars 3 on ps2,i WISH u could turn off damage, plus GT4 has more range of cars, forza is just a imitater,i can only play forza for 10minutes b4 getin bored, drifting in GT4 aint that great, Gran tursmo 3 is the game to buy if u want to drift, u can get that for $10 now. GT4 is just a higher quality game, just the AI in forza is better, not perfect, just alil better, forza has a pathetic array of tracks which adds to why i dislike the game, GT4 ,4 years in development, compared to forzas what,1 or 2 years, no comparision IMO, GT4 hands down, more data, better handling, beter cars, looks better, more fun, rally mode,no cliping, when playing forza i remembed the frame rate droping real bad, the only thing i hate about the gran turismo series is the soundtrack,i hate those stupid popcorn fruity songs in the games!!..lol,i turn the music OFF,Drivatar thingo in forza is nice, GT4 just seems more complete. Both games are great to their respected consoles in their own way,u gota play both to see.

My 2 Cents.
