Hi all, my recent posts about Coghlan Russell Engineering finally came true last Thursday. We were all made redundant. Some of my workmates have been there for 40+ years. Very sad time. No real point to this thread but i hope anyone out there in the automotive industry who feels safe at the moment, enjoy it while you can, it aint gonna last. The whole industry is going down BIG time. If you work at TOYOTA you might be OK.

I hope that everything works out for you. It probably sounds lame but..... for every door that closes, a window opens.
I was made redundant about 15 years ago, I was pretty cut up about it at the time. But things have worked out better than if I had still been working there. And it is true that no matter how valuable you think that you are to a company, your probably not. Good luck.

I've been redundant twice and put off because the business was going broke once, each time has found me with better opportunities. Hang in there and be prepared to consider opportunities that you might not if you had a permanent job.
Best of luck, Tote

Backwells IXL took over some of the work, with some going in house to the Ford stamping plant, so good to see a local business securing the work, and they hired a number of CR employees to do the job too. Pity they couldn't hire all of them.

Yeap that sucks, but some of these companies that are going bust have been sitting on their backside, and have dodgey management that cant see past their nose.
Agreed manufacturing is going to be tough, product development is actually on the rise. So not all doom and gloom.
