Default quick parking fine question

the infringement is parking in a no standing zone.....weve got pics, filmed the walk of maybe 500-700m to the nearest no standing sign, theres even 2 roads the join to this one and one sign at the start...one at the end of the road

not happy at all, first i got free tickets to the cowboys game, cowboys were losing, left half time, no seats on the grass AT ALL anywhere.. bit of overselling if you ask me, then under signed roads and a fine... what a crock /end rant

anyways fine = $30.. couldnt care if it was $300 but how many points?....and it was done in a rental car so is there anything else i should know?

according to the DOT site with the list of demerit point offences theres nothing about parking fines so i hope its a quick $30 fine

Did the road have gutters? If so were they painted red. Pretty sure that denoted no standing/parking zone regardless of signs. Well it is here as I understand it

In victoria there are no demerit pionts for parking fines.
Haveing said that we dont have $30 parking fines
mine were always around $100 a throw (been bout 10 years)

Best thing is just ring the council that issued it

Best trick in the world, that has worked once for me. Take it off your windscreen and stick it on the closest parked car. If they arent very switched on, they'll think they've got a ticket and pay it. I tried it again a month ago, but just got an overdue notice, so obviously they haven't gotten around to paying it yet! Ha.

Post some photos up supporting your story. The cops aren't there to hold your hand and guide you through life. Regardless of yellow/red lines, aren't there laws regarding distances you're allowed to park from intersections/driveways? How far away from the kerb were you parked?

This has nothing to do with driveways or kerbs, its to do with the football. When there's a game on you arn't permited to park in the streets. My Dad use to live around the corner frome there, and on his street there were parking lanes. Perfectly legal to park on the street, unless the footballs on then its illigal. Does anyone else think its just a way to make money?

I dont know how it is over there, but footy park (adelaide) has signs indicating the parking times allowed on game days, and the carparks are patrolled and patrons warned if the times are changing.

No points for parking fines, but if there was nothing nearby to suggest that you couldnt park there, the first thing I would do is complain before paying it.

It might stop there, if not make a choice as to weather or not you take it further - I would.

As I said its all about making money. They do letter drops notifying residents of the area the hours of which you are not allowed to park on the street, but everyone such as S3SR would have no idea till the get the fine.

Haha, good idea.

Another thing to note is that with parking fines, they need to get your rego lable number aswell as the rego number just to make sure they dont stuff up. No rego lable number = no fine.

When theres a game at AAMI stadium, the shopping center parks are a maximum of 2 hrs max unless you pay the footy parking fee. So I park in the shopping center park, tell them Im there for shopping and not the footy, park, remove my rego sticker and put it in the glove box, walk through the center, buy a coke on my credit card, go to the footy and leave when its over without paying for anything.

The reason I do this is because if I have no rego lable, they cant fine me, the police could fine me (only if the carpark owned by harris scarfes is classified as public/government owned - which I dont think it is) for no rego lable, but I could easily argue that they didnt see it because it was on the rear 1/4 pannel or something.

Then failing that, my backup argument is I was only ever there for 2 hours at a time. I came, did some shopping, went home, came back to pickup someone and that I definiteley wasnt at the game - I was shopping - heres my credit card statement to proove I was a shopping center patron (showing the coke reciept).

Never had to resort to that though because Ive never been find due to the missing lable

Pity the boys in blue saw you park there as you couldve used the old "My car broke down so i pushed it there to get it off the roadway". It worked for me once (yes i was parked illegally). City Of Greater Geelong sent me a letter stating that this fine has been dismissed but if i get another in the next 12 months they will also re-impose the dismissed one aswell. : My advice is to use all avenues available to you to get off this fine.

yeah a note in the window will work wonders for that one.

Got talking with a parking inspector (that let me off a parking fine - you dont get that often!) that gave me the inside tip.

He said that if your cars broken down, you cant legaly be issued a parking fine if the ispector is aware theres a problem.

He said a note in the window stating the problem and time will always get you off providing your within a few hours of the time on the note.

Apparently he sees it all the time, same re-offenders who he knows arent realy broken down, but he cant issue the fine so they get away with it - usefull info to have for street parking!

Even if you dont leave the note in the window, the hardest of councils will have to let you off with the simplest of evidence (ie a reciept from supercheap the same day or a phone bill showing a phone call to a mechanic etc etc)

Wrong!!!
the rental company has to send it back to the council to be sent to the nominated driver, as he had to supply the rental car people with all his details.

HAHA $30.00 parking fine!! In Sydney we pay $40.00 just to park legally in the carpark for a game of footy. :

If parking fines were 30 bucks I'd always park illegally!! :

lol i used to get free tickets to the cowboys games every year! :P
i just used to live around the corner, i could see the big screen from my backyard!!
I went all the time, barracked for anyone EXCEPT the cowboys lmao! Back then they were at the bottom of the ladder and getting the wooden spoon every year!
Parking is chaos there and there isnt that much designated parking so everyone is forced to park on the streets, i was lucky living around the corner so i just walked home, a 2min walk. Never really saw anyone get parking fines, may have changed now though. If you dont want to risk getting a fine next time, park at the willows shopping centre or something and get the free bus ride over.

Your fine is $30 flat you won't get points.
