Cool just a whinge on AusPost

Can anyone tell me how can a person working (mostly 9-5) pick up a package form the post office (located 30 min form work), when they only work Mon-Fri 9-5?

Your post office isnt open saturday mornings? I thought most were.

But to add, lately ive noticed they dont even attempt to deliver the parcels, the postie on the bike just leaves the note in the box. The last four or five times there has definitely been someone home and no one came to the door, and the missed parcel letter is sitting with the other letters.

at least you get your letters delivered.

here we have to go to post office to pick up all mail, no spare post box`s so have to call at counter in shop hours. not open for saturdays here . i think its only some city offices that open saturday.

lucky our work depot is only a couple of doors up the street from post office and we knock off at 3.30pm most days.

Same here I swear, 3 this week and home for at least 2 of them.

It shits me to tears to be honest, why at least even on Thursdya nights they can't be open until 9:00pm and all day Saturday then close Monday to make up for it...

Ask Australia Post if they will build a depot right next door to your work.

Im sure that will convenience you as well as the other 3 people working where you do.

could you get the parcel delivered to your work?

most post shops are open saturday mornings aswell.

i work night shift (sorting mail for australia post lol) and when ever i get parcels i am asleep so i have to go down to the post office to get them and sometimes even though the note says it will be there at 2pm its not there till the next day. (i think i have a dodgy parcel contractor)

Get a standing order signed to have parcels delivered to another address, I get mine delivered to my yellow bin out the side of the house, works a charm except on garbage days when I forget to check the bin :(

aus post needs to be sold to a private company, maybe then they'll fix all the problems. Is amazing how much mail goes missing through them!

I have a standing order also and they leave them in the garage i have neighbours around so security is not an issue. I find this works well for me.

Mines open Saturday mornings and 8.00-6.00 M-F.

Still doesn't mean I like them. I was once told that if I wanted to ensure a parcel got to me on time that I should use a private courier, AusPost themselves admit they are rubbish. this was when I had payed for express post.

Cool thanks guys

What I usually do is I just get off work earlier and try to beat the afternoon traffic to get to that post office, I usually just make it. There's always someone ****ed off outside who just didn't make it on time- and I don't blame him as he probably works in the city 44kms away.

And they are closed on Saturdays.

I think that that post office is open exclusively for unemployed, pensioners and stay at home mothers.

Gah @ AusPost... dodgy dodgy!! I've had 3 pieces of mail 'disappear' in recent times. All were items I posted in the *same* post box. First one was a newspaper subscription renewel cheque (made out to the News Ltd so useless to anyone else), second one was a bond release form. That went missing so I had to go and bother our old landlord for yet another copy - the first form took 2 weeks to get off them so they were reluctant to give the second one!! The third item that went missing was re-enrolment form for electoral roll.

Grrr. I heard from someone who works in auspost (admin) that they've caught quite a few mail truck drivers/postmen with big piles of mail horded in their house or buried in the back yard. Why? Because they couldn't be bothered delivering... Some have been caught thieving too!

Yep thats what I do now. Like the OP I never have time to pick up undelivered parcels from the Post so they just come directly to my work place.

AusPost once wouldn't hand over a parcel addressed to me because the address on my drivers licence didn't match the delivery address. Yet they were more than happy to hand it over to my partner because the addresses matched up. Ridiculous.

Ive been caught out a couple of times when things are sent using a company called Australian Air Express. If your not home the parcel goes back to their depot at the airport for pickup, an hour away.

Usually our postie just throws the letters in the dirt...
And they regularly 'forget' to write out a slip, so when i go there to pay bills, and ask why there is a parcel in my name behind the desk, they just say "oh, i was just about to write that up"... hmmmmm

I am so pi55ed of at that. It has happened to me a few times. I had a day off 2 weeks ago, AusPost came and didn't even try to deleiver the package, just dump the note in the box.

We rang up AusPost and they said they will have a word to the actual office - whatever that means. I may as well not even get something delivered if I have to go down and wait in the queue at the office anyway :evil3: :evil3: :evil3:

I much prefer going to collect packages from the post office.
It means there's one less set of hands it has to pass through to get to me.

We have P.O. boxes for our businesses anyway, so we get all our mail delivered there.
