Thats what I think it is doing, sending the computer nuts.
I think if anything Ill just disconnect the rear fog wiring as I VERY rarely use it anyway. Id much rather have better vision when reversing, hence the reason I did it in the first place. Just a question thought (if anybody knows), say an Auto Zetec with the factory bodykit - it has 2 reverse lights standard right? What happens if you switch on the rear foglight on one of them? I doubt Ford would let it confuse the computer like mine does, so is it wired up another way or disconnected completely or something?

I'd say close the circuit to the rear fog. In the ST170 and Zetec, it's simply not connected when bodykit is fitted. The rear fog circuit is a totally independent circuit linked only to the switch on teh dash. On these models I believe it lights up on the switch but simply doesn't work. If an ST owner can confirm for us. My hypothesis, if it lights up on the switch, the circuit is closed onto itself, if it doesn't light up when switched on, then the circuit is still open but not attached to anything. (more probable I'd say)

Whoa, read this before doing anything.
Under NO circumstances do you ever just wire the two wires together, you will blow stuff up. The correct course of action is to have all the wires that previously went to the fog light disconnected, and insulated from everything, especially themselves. Then wire the light to the reverse light circuit in parallel. As I said above and repeating, NEVER 'complete' the circuit by wiring them to themselves. Tim |

Well if it doesnt work on Zetecs (ST is no good for comparison cos there are no autos) i'll most likely just end up cutting out the rear foglight. Just ending the wires and not joining them up (no idea why you'd do that?), but just closing them off and covering them with tape so no wires are exposed.
The other option I was thinking of (but it might be a bit too much i think) is adding in a 2nd bulb to the light surround, so that one bulb is a reverse light and the other is a foglight. That way I could have both, but it'd be a very tight squeeze and involve a lot of chopping to fit the 2nd bulb (and holder) into the light surround.
