I've made a point of leaving the room when ever or where ever I am if ever ACA or it's clone on the other chanel comes on they're both media at there lowest possible form. Tabloid trash aimed at the lowest common denominator that doesn't realise they're being taken for a ride. I for one can't sit there & have my intelligence insulted like that.

It'b be nice for ACA to actually contact an ethusiasts club and sit down with them and discuss what is happening... and stop criticising enthusiasts based on the minority.......
But that would probably be too much to ask.... oh well ..... just change the freakin channel. EASY

Who cares about ratings they do(aca) without ratings they would'nt exist...as has been said in another thread..."they can't keep that from the public"...my reply.."there are more gruesome murders out there than you will ever here about"..not exact but close enough. Another naive neophyte who won't be told.. You are young...and you have a hell of a lot to learn about the world....all is not what is portrayed. Get out and get a life...before its to late and they suck you in...maybe it 's too late already!!!!!

All I can see is that because there a few drag meets out there with P platers and hi performance cars or modified cars they then go on to say that P platers shouldn't be alowed to do this and that and that they should ban P platers from doing something else.. Even ones that do fully obey the laws and dont sit there showing off to a large drag meet around our cities. Thanks to smart asses in the past according to the high powered car lawas a p plater isn't even meant to drive a BA XT Falcon. Whats next?? are they gunner lower it down to 100k/w per tonne?

The only thing I take offence to is the fact that people always categorise young drivers / p-plate drivers as hoons or high risk drivers... :baby bott
NOT ALL YOUNG DRIVERS ARE HOONS OR DANGEROUS DRIVERS, in fact it is the minority that do do drive dangerously. :sm_headba I am a P-plate driver and I will admit that I do speed on occasion but nothing stupid and I will tell you that I have seen my fair share of hoons who are not exactly wat you would cal young (40+). I just wish theat everyone would stop saying that it is only the P-platers that are Hoons! out: |

ACA is a tabloid and nothing else,my post was not per sae a personal attack on you but your belief that ACA is gospel, now just for the record..we all have our opinions/beliefs..and I respect your right to express your opinion/belief...but on the same hand you might respect my right to my opinion/belief...because I've been there done that..if you can't handle the fact that I think you are naive then so be it.

I really don't see what the problem is here with ACA reporting on Hoon's, Let's all put our personal opinion's here a side for a minute and look at the story, There are Hoon's out there destroying the right's to freedom for young driver's, and as the yr's go on, it is getting worse, the justice system is letting us down, why because they punish these hoon's with a pat on the back, and as a child, because that is what they are, they know they can get away with it and therefore do it time and time again until they become unstuck, which is when we as the niave people see it on the TV. what would some of you rather, not to hear of this at all, for starter's the people who say they don't watch it because it is only ratting's should not be commenting as they don't actually watch it so how do they know what the story was about?????, all I can think is they actually watch and take it to heart that ACA is placing them in this catogory, I don't think ACA is saying ALL 100% of young driver's are hoon's but there are a lot of them out there and they do populate in this topic comparred to older driver's, I don't think anyone in their right mind would disagree, let's face it people if it wern't for program's like ACA and even the paper's we would never know about how this world is so stuffed up, so someone please explain to me why they have a problem with ACA reporting on Hoon's?????????.

The problem is that ACA tarnish all of us and does not get both sides.
Due to this we as car enthusiests are looked at at Hoons driving ilegal cars before be back out of the driveway! Now I do not like this, like most, I have spend thousands on my car are it would be safer than most other cars! Due to the police having the power to 'canary' a car the 'guess' is 'unroadworthy' but not actually unroadworthy, show Ray and his followers that all cars with mod's are not safe road going vehicle with drivers that drive dangerously. Ray is against us and we are not doing anything wrong.

Yes, "without ACA and even the paper's we would never know about how this world is so stuffed up". I think one of the problems with that statement is that you are taking sensationalistic journalism as fact. If the reports ACA etc. made were true then I would be just as concerned as you. But the real facts are not being reported by ACA at all. Do you have any evidence that doesn't come from a source trying to shock and interest people to gain ratings? I'm 23, I've just finished Uni so I've been around a lot of young people with P-plates and young driver's in general. I don't have my driver's licence so I rely on the driving of other people to keep me safe. Yep there are a few people who drive like idiots, there are also a few older people who drive like idiots. The only reason you hear about young people being killed in crashes more often is because it makes a more interesting news story. (If you think this is incorrect then find me some statistics that prove otherwise- there aren't any). There are police out there to monitor hoonish behaviour and there are friends and family to pull people into line when they are driving like idiots. How is it helpful for the general public to be prejudiced against young drivers? There are a lot of people in this country, and particuarly in this forum, who love cars and who do the right thing with them. Is it fair for the general public to look down on them because of incorrect reporting?

media is evil
media is a tool theres a time and place for everything...if that means draggin ur car on a track or priavte strip....and to be quiet honest if i'm drivin on the highway in the middle of night/ early monring and theres not a car on the road..why can't i put the foot down a little? i wouldn't be endangering any ones life other than my own and thats my choice...maybe before people slang the hoon word around it could be defined what is hooning? is speeding being a hoon? i'm sure theres people that would agree with that then theres speeding a little or speeding alot.. is weaving in and out of traffic being a hoon? thats wreckless beahviour so yes that would be seen as hooning.. i don't think accelerating in a straight line within reason is dangerous or wreckless theres all sorts of reasoning that people use to define hoons |

if they define hooning as going above the speed limit then i think most if not all of us are hoons then, ACA is full of sh!t, they show 1 side to a story and as far as facts go.....what facts they got none, i got a fact for you all though, today tonight did a story on a large girl turned slim and now models, they said she lost the weight by getting lipo and other surgery and spent thousands doing it, the truth however was completely differant, she had actually gone on a diet and exercised everyday to lose the weight, the surgery she did have was only to get rid of strech marks and extra fat around the hip. there are also many more stories of ACA,TT that are wrong and they screwed up. they can't be trusted and they will never apologise properly for their mistakes. just my 2c

If you really want to attack ACA and are prepared to work at it, it is easy to do.
Watch every night and take note of what products are advertised during the breaks. Write to the companys that make, sell or are those products detailing how because they advertise on Ch9 during ACA thet you will boycott their stuff. Get everyone you can to do the same and then get them to get everyone they know to do likewise. This really works. I used to work in the firearms industry. During the early 90s (before Pt Arthur) John Laws decided to take up the mantle of anti-gun and attack sporting and rural shooters every chance he could. At the time he was sponsored by Toyota who just happen to make 4WDs that are sold in rural areas to many of the people who were being attacked by Mr Laws. A friend of mine came up with the idea of boycotting toyota and complaining to them that if they want to play politics then we will buy other products. We asked every toyota owner that we (we being 40 bazillion gun loonys) why they bought a car from a company that wants to ban guns and if they dont believe us just ring toyota and ask. Toyota response went from: what are you talking about? to: no comment to: Toyota is a motor vehicle manufacturer and is not involved in the firearm industry. to finally: Toyota has no position on this matter and does not have any influence over what Mr Laws says on his radio show. Yeh Right! Within two weeks, John Laws was defelecting anti-gun phone calls and refused to discuss the subject whatsoever. (this was about 1992-1993). Ch9 is revinue driven, if you affect their revinue they WILL react. Ray and his team can do stories on ANYTHING THEY LIKE, Ch9 admin tell them WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO LIKE......... But then , the guns guys were organised and johnny still beat them...... |

Flappist i think thats a good idea aswell. See how long the sponsors will keep supplying money when they realize the reason why people are boycotting their products.
Lol its wishful thinking but hey maybe they loose so much money Ray Martin and all the 60 mins crew for that matter are out of a job and might have to get a job in the real world. Hey its alright to dream :P |

Why not play them at their own game?
Invite them to a well organised event. A drag day, a car show etc. Put a positive spin on what is it that we do - law abiding men and women, enjoying a unique past time in a safe environment. Anyone know how to draft a media invitiation?? PS... WTF gets home from work in time to see ACA????

My opinion - is that I think we have all missed a thing called bias.
Its commonplace in media and its different mediums. Sure ACA might be reporting on some facts (I use that term loosely however) - then with those facts ONLY they simply make the report biased to the opinion/result/emotion THEY WANT TO CONVEY. So they dont make the story or facts reported balanced and equal, and let people make up their own minds. They do the thinking for the viewer basically. Majority of people will sit in front of the TV, take what ACA say as gospel, and have no reason to think about the other side of the story. There are 3 sides to a story. Your side, their side - and the truth. Think for yourself..........question authority.......... |
