Default Ford V8 sedan USA

It might be yesterday's news but is Falcon last V8 powered Ford sedan ? Was just browsing Ford US website and there is no V8 sedan in the range. Makes last Falcon a bit more special.

Last US built V8 4 door would have been Crown Victoria so it's been some time. Since then the TTV6 has become their workhorse

i went to the site , dialed in my new sprint as i'd like it to be built, and they gave me a price of, " X amount * " ---

* The estimated drive away price is based on a vehicle being garaged in your currently selected postcode and on the owner being a 'rating one' driver aged 40 with a good driving record

the price varies depending upon age, location?

Yep as it includes drive away pricing and some states have variable compulsory third party insurance etc.

Hello,

At one stage the Crown Vic was the only RWD Car made there, hence the Cops liking them. Now they have Dodge again, and that is why they were importing Statesman's also. If Ford had made LHD Falcon's, they may have picked up a bigger export market. This would also include Arab countries where fuel is cheap. Imagine if the US Taxi industry started to buy Falcons ! The cost of making LHD was out of the budget unfortunately. And, the current model has no long wheelbase model, some yanks are not slim which is why the Cops bought the Stato.

You ignored the Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car built on the same chassis as the Crown Victoria.

Ford's current police sedan offering (based on the Taurus) is no roomier than a Falcon inside. It all comes down to production costs.

300 and Charger both offer V8/RWD, as does Cadillac. It is a niche market now though.

Yes, Fiat. Sad state of affairs. But they manage to lose money as well as ever!

I'm not worried about their involvement with Fiat, their cars and trucks are better than they ever were. As for profitability, that's going to take time all their platforms are coming up for replacement about the same time. So their money is being reinvested in developing a lot of new products. In just the next few years, we will see all new platforms and bodies for 300/Charger, Grand Cherokee/Grand Wagoneer, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep pickup, Ram 1500, Heavy Duty, Ram SUV (yet to be named), Barracuda. (Just about everything they have). The Pacifica minivan is all-new from the ground up. Those products are already in development, so that's where the money is going. A lot of exciting things going on there. They're not losing money because of a lack of sales or market share, with the exception of the Dart and 200 so they will be doing away with those.

The car companies know what's going to happen in a few years, The price of fuel is going to skyrocket due to political and infrastructure costs that are being caused by the dirt cheap oil we now have at our disposal.
Anybody purchasing a V8 now must be aware that in ten years time the cost of fuel will be huge and the owners of the dinosaurs we now like to drive will think twice before driving them.

Everyone has been saying that for the 40 years. It has its ups and downs, pricing is driven by the market. When another type of fuel is developed the Govt. will just tax the crap out of that, but we will all still buy it no matter what the cost.

actually it's driven by production volumes. Saudi wants other countries to haul back production to drive the price back up. USA said no, Russia said no. Also, Iran is coming back to the international market soon.

I've put over 113,000 miles on my 2001. Over 50,000 of those have been supercharged.

Forza the FIAT group.
They can use Chrysler to finance their revival.... Alfa Romeo's revival.

And for a similar price there is Lexus & Infinity(nissan)

Hyundai Genisis has a 5.0 V8 RWD (not sold in Australia) but I think that's moving to a TTV6.

but they all fall into the Luxury car segment

300C will sort of be on its own or is it a Luxury car too?

Latest Crown does not offer a V8 as an engine option. Previous model had 4.6l eight , same as LS460. Crown is only available as a grey import currently though.
