hi
wondered how would you ask people/friends to come to a resturaunt or a hotel for meal with you on another night so you can be with them if you cant get to a particular function because youre at another one thats also the same day and time. what could you say or do to ask. how do you do a closed facebook invite so only people you invite see it, is there a way and how do you start it, and do you have to put a date and place or can you just say on there your thinking of going somewhere but your not sure on a date yet and ask when it suits everyone then pick the date after. thanks for any answers |

Don't bother with Facebook. Just talk to them, tell them you have a prior engagement and propose an alternate date and time

Depends on the generation.
An acquaintance had a 40th a few years back, and only sent out invites on Facebook. I don't use FB, so they sent it to my wife. She missed it, as she blocks his posts because they're all spam about dinner & toilet habits (he shares an account with his wife). They rang us up, from the party, to ask why we weren't there. I didn't even know it was on FFS! But if it was an 18th, then you'd almost expect every patron to be on FB, and be able to do the invites exclusively that way. But still, nothing beats actually picking up the phone, dialling a number (not sending a dozen texts back & forth) and talking to the person/people you want to invite. |

As said before mate, just pick up the phone and call them explaining you had a previous engagement and can't make it on the night.
I'm quite sure that your friends who invited you to the event will understand. Don't feel awkward about not attending, happens all the time. By all means arrange another time in a few weeks to catch up with your friends. Real friends are understanding and accommodating. Cheers! Edit: Social media like Facebook etcetera is not a good way to communicate. Personally like via a phone call or in person is the best way if you're comfortable with that. Saves any misinterpretation of what you're trying to say, and you get instant feedback/understanding.

My close mates and I have a private group chat on Facebook.
No idea who made it or how they did it since one of them added me, but it's great for organizing things as a group rather than everyone talking to each other separately. We are not tech genius's or anything, it's just practical and easy. The main reason why we like it is because we can discuss what we want to do or where we want to go as a group before going anywhere. |
