What I wonder is who is buying all these RAV4s. They have sold about 90,000 in the last two years yet I hardly see any on the road and I live in a Melbourne suburb which I would think is the RAV4 target market. I remember if there was a new model Falcon and Commodore that after 90,000 sales I would be seeing them everywhere. The RAV must be so generic and bland that they are practically invisible.

By comparison the new/current model Ranger has sold about a third more (125,000) in the last two years and I see them everywhere. I know I have a brand recognition bias, but that RAV4 is a mystery to me!

My Syd travels I see heaps of the fugly things,RAV's.
Amongst the countless SUV/CX5/9's/Kias/Hyundai you name it.
Few more Everests nowadays but nothing OTT compared to Ranger/Hilux and the usual suspects.

Signed the contract on an LS AWD this evening actually.
24 plate in runout so getting hard to source particular combo's, 25 plate not due until 3rd qtr.

Was it just price that you went for the LS?, next step up better wheels interior, seats etc , models are different over here but I thought the next step up was better value?

Not really, from what I read the 20" wheels, whilst a nice wheel, have very little tyre side wall and create quite a harsh ride.
Originally we were looking at the ES AWD in white, preferably white diamond, as we dont need the 3rd row, but with stock in runout and dealers reluctant to swap it was hard to find .examples.

We wanted AWD, she really wanted the 9" screen with sat nav and wireless Android Auto plus wireless charger so the obvious answer was LS, which our dealer sourced as a recent build in white.

OK we don't get the ES, just LS, XLS, VRX, I think you guys get about 5?
With the battery in ours the extra weight smooths out the harshness, actually adds to the handling with the weight down low

I think they're about no 3 or 4 in bestsellers over here, NZ likes Mitsubishi there's about 3x mitsi, s in the top ten, interesting people on here find them ugly, we were quite taken with them first time we saw the ad on TV..... Hope you enjoy it

Cheers, I assume our LS would be similarly specced to your XLS then or do you just not get a bare bones (ES)version?
Not sure on the state of your roads over there but ours are terrible on average and getting worse so the 20's would cop a beating unfortunately.

My Wife had the XD ASX which has the same front end styling but seems out of sync with the rest of the car, whereas, the ZM Outlander got the bigger body to match.
She's wanted one since they came out.

No the LS is the base model here, roads are pretty crappy here too although it seams like the whole of the north islands roads are under construction, with a lot of closures.... The desert rd through the center has been closed for 2 months

They are actually quite a big vehicle inside, comfy on long trips
