Hi all,
I'm trying to update one of my websites. Does anyone here know about Dreamweaver? I have a problem with it not showing the site on the remote server. All it shows is the Root Directory. I hit refresh and every now and then the site comes up, but when I go to write to the server, it comes up with error 500. Pulling what's left of my hair out! Thanks in advance,

Ok thanks.
In Dreamweaver, on the RHS you have your connection to the web server. Under it is meant to be the list of files and folders which make up your website. You hit connect (in remote view) and the files are supposed to pop up. When they do, you hit "get files" and they download to your local machine for editing, then when edited, you hit "put files" and they upload to the server for the world to see. The root directory is the main folder in your server that the files are in. My root directory is "public_html" No, it won't expand. Problem is, my files don't show up in the root directory. I hit refresh 10 times or so and sometimes they pop up in the window. I click "get files" and they start to download but then after a little while it interrupts with error message 500 Illegal Port Command and the files stop downloading. Buggered if I know what's happening? Intermittent problem - how can that be? Mike

so much easier to just ftp files up seperately. Check to see your connection to your server hasnt timed out.
