Well I would like to see them release 2 special versions, in line with the fact we have an FPV variant and the XR variant.
Make them unique but affordable to two different markets, maybe even 3.

F6-E - Executive class vehicle, same specs as now but with the extras we had hoped would be coming.

F6-HO - The performance sedan to cap off and say thankyou to an engine that really has been in a class of it's own.

XR-Spec - Unsure of how to 'spec' this but a vehicle that has more affordability than the FPV variants. Suggestions ???

At the end of the day as we wipe a tear from our eye as the last one roles off the assembly line, give us something we can be proud of and say "I owned one of those !"

Jim

Hmm There's a good catch phrase for it "I owned one of those !"

Stuff the interior full of good gear and call them the Falcon 50th anniversary special.
Why do all that when they could just add a special edition sticker package to celebrate the last of the inline 6's. :

Don't replace it with a Ford version of an ecotec engine...............

I hope I'm wrong, but I fail to see them doing a V6 the will be at least equal to the I6 in terms of power and torque, while retaining its lazy characteristics, let alone making one that will be better.

They might come up with more kilowatts, but off the mark grunt will probably suffer.

Fingers crossed the newy is a good one!

Drop in forged everything wind the boost up to 20 pounds, throw it in a Supercar shell, put Dick Johnson behind the wheel and let it race at Bathurst as a non qualifier. That would pull the crowds from both sides of the fence.

To celerbrate the end of the inline six I would like to see a wet tee shirt contest a burnout competition and a band maybe ACDC also have the last two engines built by apprentices and then dyno them and have a sweep on which one will blow first as they wind up the boost

They should give me 10 million, because I want it.

There are many things they should do, but the reality is that the majority of people couldn't care less.
I am willing to bet my pants that most people think the Falcon has a V6. Even that dipstick last year who reported the demise of Ford's "Inline V6 engine" on ABC radio had no idea what an Inline engine was.

As much as it may suck, it is simply time to move on and give the new engine a chance. It may not have the torque or power of the Inline, but I think Ford have to plan for its long term future as people move away from large cars to small buzz boxes like Barinas and Corollas.

Ford aren't going to keep an engine for a few diehards. They want to remain competitive.

Thats funny. I was just saying to my work mate the other day he should be invited back to the engine plant when it closes, so we can beat the crap out of him.

They should celebrate by sacking themselves.

Kinda sad that they're dumping a reliable and proven motor in favour of a yankee (crap) V6 motor.

Ford Aus should close doors after 2010. BMW aren't as stupid as they are

The Duratec V6 is actually a very proven design and is European, not American.

why is ford downgrading from the straight six to this new v6 anyway? everyone knows a straight engine is superior in design. i'll only be half happy if the next series falcon is a smaller car

The I6 (Australia only - super tiny market) is not cost-effective any more, especially engineering it to meet ever tightening noise & emissions regulations.

Maybe or.....

The V6 is a part of Fords global plan, by FoA playing the game and taking the V6 it will gain a seat and better voice at the Ford table.

So the axing of the I6 might mean
1) Better V8's
2) Return of the Fairlane
3) Return of the hardtop or Mustang at a competitve price

I have a funny feeling that come 2010 FPV will sell more F6's then ever before.

And if Ford producing an I6T that slaps BMW M3 accross the face for straight line speed isn't a good way to see the old girl out of this world, I don't know what is
