Probably because Ford are trying to intimate that the engine type, capacity, or aspiration aren't important. What's important is that it's no less to drive than the six... but you get better fuel economy.

At any rate. EcoBoost probably wouldn't have been advertised if Ford weren't doing these fifteen second ads for all their cars. Let's just be glad that they are doing one for Falcon... and putting them on TV. Is that not great? Can I get an amen?

I tend to agree that the ad could have at least mentioned a "4 cylinder engine",
as this is the market for the car.

Good to see a Falcon ad though...... it's been a while !!

The lack of early advertising has me thinking did they deliberately go with a soft launch? I saw some numbers in a mag that a huge percentage of the early production went to Ford staff. Perhaps they didn't get to do full enough shakedown of the engine, and the staff sales were a real world validation while getting a few testers out to key gov fleets??? Hope so and we see some accelerated sales now.

The Front say "How do ecoBoost engines deliver so much oomph with so little thirst?" "Turn to the back cover to find out."

and the back says "You don't have to know... etc"

Let's hope they do a follow up (i.e. this is the start of a campaign).

When I unwrapped my Herald-Sun this morning (I get it delivered), I wondered what was going on with the ad on the front cover, then turned it around to see the full back page ad.

Very refreshing to see this.

Um, just one thing, in Australia we call the cover over the engine a 'bonnet', not a 'hood'.
And the word 'cinch', seems like Americanism is sneaking in here.

Check out this documentary of Ford in America. It gives a pretty good indication where Ford as a 'global' company is heading i.e. "One Ford".

Ecoboost is here to stay. Cylinder capacity is irrelevant. It's all about performance and fuel economy.

Great to see some advertising for the Ecoboost Falcon finally. When you think about it, they've set it up perfectly. The car has had nothing but 6 months worth of motoring reviews heaping praise on the car, how well it drives, how good it is etc. Now with advertising, the first thing punters will do when they see an ad is jump online and Google it. What will be the first things they come across? A whole bunch of glowing reviews from some of the most critical motoring journos in the country. Granted, they could have done this sooner, but, it is what it is.

I'll make a call here and now though: come 2014, it will be standard fitment to Falcons and the only Falcons available with the 6 will be the XR6/T and the G6ET.

Correct. Ecoboost will be the standard for all Ford passenger cars around the world.

Falcon has EcoBoost in the current range.
Focus has EcoBoost in the current range.
Mondeo has EcoBoost in the current range.
Fiesta will have EcoBoost in the range with 2013 update.
Kuga will have EcoBoost in the range with 2013 update.

Territory is the only passenger car with no EcoBoost. Maybe this will change soon as well?

Great to see Ford are advertising it. Isn't Christmas supposed to be the best time for selling cars these days?

I'm glad Falcon is part of the smaller petrol motor/forced induction/direct injection, economy seeking trend that is maturing now.

Not with all the other costs associated with Christmas and the fact that most fleets shut down purchasing...

June is typically one of the better months, tax time!

Finally a marketing CAMPGION for Ecoboost!! Not just TV, but a few different media touch points all building the consumers knowledge base. The TV ad plays a part, now the paper ads give consumers you a bit more. Hopefully there’s another step with some web, radio or face book stuff that builds customer knowledge again.

It might be late, but at least it is here!!

Not really American Roots. Henry thought it important to operate where you sell cars. So it's very much a 'global' company with it's operating ethos... but more of the companies leaders are American... so there's the influence.

I can't help but laugh at this comment sorry. If it was only ecoboost 4's in Falcon they would currently be selling less than 70 a month. The market has not wanted a bar of it. But luckily you are wrong and the 2014 I6 will cop some improvements.

And you just can't run the engine plant on turbo volume alone, they would be making less than 10 engines a day. How can you continue to run both a casting plant and an engine plant on that. Impossible.

Now where's the LPi ads FFS. Advertise the LPi and all past sins will be forgiven.

Not likely. They are still too scared to even mention its a 4 cylinder because public perception of 4 cylinders in big cars is not good, even though its not even an issue in the Ecoboost Falcon. But perceptions are hard to break. Just like people who buy Commodores because they think they are so great, because they don't know any better and are usually no more than sheep who buy them cause their mates reckon there fully hectik and Fords are ****, just because
