This thread is GOLD. I am looking forward to the day I get pulled over now for something stupid, I'll take great delight in waiting for him to say something stupid!!! Then again being in a Focus is hardly a magnet for burnouts or street racing. Maybe I should buy a Celica...

I think the police need their recruits and current serving members to undergo extra training. It's unfair for people to be accused of certain defects when the officer doesn't know what he's on about. Or when they can't even identify a car - even when it's got the badges on the back of it. To check if it's rear wheel drive, they could look under the car for a diff and tailshaft. Nor should they be going around accusing people of doing burnouts unless they have actually witnessed that vehicle doing burnouts recently.

I know Hindsight is a good thing but you should have looked under the rear of the car and then say to the coppa "I want to report a theft - someone's stolen my diff"

I remember getting pulled over in Thompson Road, Geelong, I was driving my XH XR6 at the time and the copper pulled me over in an EL XR8. He asked me if mine was an 8. As kindly as possible I pointed out the XR6 meant it had a 6 and the XR8 meant it had an eight. He left me alone. A Lot of police don't know much about cars. Some of us do though.

this ИИИИ happens all the time. my dad was driving mum's camry to work at 3am and the cops pull him over. saked him if it was his car, he said no, it's mums. cops then said 'well her license is expired, we wanted to check if she was driving unlicensed.' all while his partner was looking over a stock camry ffs.
so dad told her and she rings the cop shop and checks with their computer systems only to be told her license is valid till 2009. useless pricks. |

That is classic. When I got caught speeding ages ago, the copper thought my plates were stolen, which there arn't. It has my initials and birthday, got issued from the rta. He thought they were stolen and checked my car, engine number and vin numbers. Sat on the side of the road for an hour at 4 in the morning. I asked him when they were supposidly stolen. He replied 2000. I got the plates in Jan 2003. Why would he rta reissue stolen plates. He promptly left then.

Its as if some coppas get brain washed. They think we are the bad guys cause we drive in hot looking cars and are just out to get us no matter what. Even if weve done nothing at all. I must admit there are some ideots out there but the majority of us are respectfull to the road rules ect. So we take of a bit faster, brake harder and play our music louder, i don't see how that makes us the scum of society. I think its only some coppas, they are just arseholes. They should be out getting all the scum that are walking the streets harrassing people, breaking and entering. We have alotta indeginous gangs walking the streets of late. A number of innocent people have been severely bashed, it is this stuff they should be stopping. Its crazy really. We are afraid to walk the streets because we will get bashed for doing nothing, and we are afraid to drive the streets because cops are harrassing us for going for a cruise when they should be making it safe to be able to walk the street. :

Bloody cops :eclipsee_
You think if the copper schools teach these idiots about what laws they can book us for. You think they would be taught about the difference in cars, FWD, RWD, Makes, Models to ensure they actually have some idea on what they are doing ? Steve |

I think this is very much the end result of too many cops in cars, and not enough walking a beat. When you are driving, you are going to be more focused on the cars around you, then what may be happening on the sidewalk and in houses.
The end result is a focus on vehicle offenses, and a lack of knowledge of the people I bury in my front yard.

me and a mate went through the drive thru at KFC, drove into the carpark and was sitting in my car having a meal when a cop car slowing pulls up beside us gets out and asked for my licence...... i asked if he was joking as the vehicle wasn't even running and i was eating my meal,, he said no its a random check.........
i said can't you see im eating, why dont you go randomly check that guy over there. whos driving, i said even if i don't have a licence what can you do, im not driving im sitting down on the seat having a meal....cuz its the only shady part in the car.... asked for my licence again, i gave it to him.... he said is the vehicle yours i told him that i belive so.......even though its registered under my dads name......(concesional rego) heheheeh.... came back after 10 mins..... i asked is there any problems OFFICER... he said no.. and walked back to his car..... Are they really allowed to do this? i felt like getting his details and putting a complaint in......just for the reason that i was having a meal and he decided to come an disturb me while i was sitting in a sationary car, in the car park......... |

If you had your keys in the ignition, technically you are driving. Ive seen people done sitting on the side of the road, engine off, talking on the mobile phone fined for driving while talking on a mobile phone, just for having their keys in the ignition.
Now if the keys are out of the ignition, and the car is legally not in motion, then im not sure if they can do a license check under those circumstances. However, legally they can ask you to identify yourself at any time, and you are obliged to comply.

Bah what a loser...
Had a similar case the ohter day where a mate went infront of one at a roundabout, even tho there was heaps of room and the coppa was still only approaching the roundabout they pulled him up then abused the ИИИИ out of my mate for nothing, he had his young girl in the car to which wasnt a nice experience having a cop make him look like a criminal infront of his kid, lets just say that police officer is in alot of strife, however denies it as per usual. Cops wonder why society hates them, they put more effort into giving people doing the right thing a hard time then those assholes out there doing hte wrong thing, its bloody wrong.

My funnay incident with the cops, i was driving my suzuki Lj50 old softtop 4wd, it has a 3 cyl 2 stroke engine with like 26hp. I went round this corner coming off a downhill and the cops were down the road coming towards me.
They pulled me up and gave me a story about how i was goin to fast...wasnt goin fast cos it cant and tips over way too easy...anyway the cop proceeded to giv a big speel bout how dangerous it was n stuff if anything i drove to close to the kerb and the centre of road while exiting, i was in disbelief..lol anyway he said i'd recieve a summons for court. Sure enough i did and in the report it said that i 'fishtailed' round the corner sliding right out to the right and then bak to the left. and the other female cop said she saw my black softtop bulge out to the side as i went round the corner, funny thing was i didnt hav a softtop on and its grey anyways. The only thing i know of is the cop hates P platers (i was on them at the time) and the car is quite noisey as 2 strokes are. But i'm being shafted cos the cops are backin each other up with there made up stories, heaps stuff in the report that i supposedly said when i didnt say anything to them, so who's the court goin to believe. after this incident i lost all respect for the police, i know the majority are good but it only takes one bad experience to hate them all cos u dont know what the next one that pulls u over will be like |
