When I was in England going to the Silverstone Classic I saw Jeremy Clarkson in his Ford GT. We were in a Diesel Peugeot Wagon so we couldn't keep up for me to take a photo. We also saw an Enzo!!

GT 40s range in price depending on their provenance. If you’re after a Mk 1 that has a race history, and if there is one for sale, you can start at 1.5 million and work your way upward. There is currently a GT 40 XGT-3 MK II for sale in the USA. They are asking 3 Million (US) for it and it remains unsold. They may get something closer to 2 million but who knows? Looks like a really small car.
I remember one of the top gear shows where Jeremy had just got his GT, and Richard parked a minivan next to it. Jeremy could not get in due to the piece attached the door that slots into the roof. If you get me lol. Then again, I don't think I would be using one of those suckers to do the shopping ;)

I have that clip on my computer, it still makes me laugh. The red GT in the clip doesn’t actually belong to Jeremy, his one is blue.
The new GT is actually quite large in dimension. Rebuilding an old classic was always going to be a difficult task when you have to redesign it for the modern day. The new GT is a sports car designed for the road whereas the GT 40 is a pure race car. The GT 40 was only ever designed to do one thing…Win at Le Mans, although it was so far ahead of its time, mechanically and aesthetically. It still looks modern today. These pics will give you some sort of idea to the differences in dimensions between the two. I’ve also found a build sheet for the Gulf car GT 40P/1075 Cheers,

Ooh bugger... that's not the way its meant to happen. At least it looks repairable.
I was also down at Philip Island, that car has been there a few times. A couple of years ago there was a pair of GT40s, and a few years earlier a pair of Ferrari 250 GTOs - that is something you don't see every day of the week! |

here in brissy there are 3 i believe that are kicking about ... rearly drivin i believe. Ones is the blue and silver that live out near Indro way, another blue and red and i belive its a white one. I do a lot of driving and have seen those three. too busy drooling to notice numberplates and direction its heading or to think really so can't tell you if they live here in brissy, or like in nsw or somewhere else in QLD

There were 3 at the Melbourne GP.
1 GT – red with white stripes like the one in your photos 1 GT40 – red with white stripes like the one in the photo, can’t remember if it had the bubble – although this one wasn’t stacked in the two days I was there. Probably a different one? Was the crash at Phillip Island? 1 GT40 (replica?) – in Gulf colours. It was out in the open so I assumed that it was a replica. I was trying to have a look at the chassis and see if it was a monocoque or a typical replica’s spaceframe. XBGS351 – there was a mid-engined Lola there (with a Ford/Cosworth V8) and a Lola T70 MkIII (drool!!). The T70 conked out in the pits just as I got there. As a consequence I got to touch (push) one of my all time favorites back to it’s parking space. The T70 MkII and MkIII’s had Chev engines (big blocks in the Penske/Donahue car) and prototype Aston V8’s in the Mk I. The T70's really should've been more competitive against the GT40's

Is there still a company in Bayswater that do replicas ? New american GT is great but the originals/ and replicas of originals are absolutely wicked.

There’s a bloke called Ross Nicol who actually has a ZF transaxle in his. The 4.6 modular engine is quite good and Paul has engineered the chassis to quite easily accommodate a Boss 290, as the Windsor no longer complies with emission regulations and can’t be registered, except perhaps on CH plates. There’s other engines that can be fitted and can be made to go a lot harder than the ford and also weigh a lot less. These cars can be engineered to race or set up for the street, or a bit of both. Brendo83 summed it up nicely with his comments. They are by no means a budget kit car. There’s a bloke in Tassie that ordered an RF turnkey that cost around $200,000.
