No I havent as yet still negotiating, I have done a bit a research in this time and found that $18000 is not really so much of a bargain, rather a fair price (redbook).
Also for an extra 4 grand I can have a 05 BF1 xr8, as mentioned in an above post, I could just put an offer in and try to jag one for cheaper or even an 06. However, on the other side of things I have read up a bit on the LS1, and as also mentioned above, they are a very common motor - been around for a while, with a guzillion after market parts floating around relativley cheap. not much would be needed to be spent to make it a absolute weapon. Also my thoughs were "well I might give driving a commodore a go", to see what it was like and to broaden my driving experience. I don't think it is the end all to be all after this car, there will definatly be more v8s comming in to my life. I don't think manufactures are going to stop making them too soon, and hopefully fuel dosen't go up much more. So... what Im going to do is offer him $15000 tomorow and see what he says. |

LS1>Boss. In terms of cheap HP, you can NOT beat an LS1.
And I drive a Boss. |

If you truly want an XR8 or GT, then hold out and buy a GT.
The FG is hurting B-series resale, and the time is not far away where a BF Mk I GT (with standard Brembo's and the option of an excellent auto) will be the 2nd hand (Ford V8) performance bargain of this decade. Daniel |

as everyone has said if you want an xr8 or gt then save and get one.
if you get the ss though you wont be dissapointed. extractors, cats, exhaust, CAI, mafless tune. and i bet no one will be able to get you out of the drivers seat.

first thing you should ask your self is if you can afford these cars next thing you should ask your self is what do i want and by the sound of it you want a xr8 or gt.
id personally go the gt. as for the engine still being tight after 70thou then thats no good because it means that the pistons rings probably havent bedded in right. when you buy a new car you should flog it a little, i flogged my bravo from the very beginning and no problems. |

Sounds like a good buy for $18k especially if you know its history.
GT's available at under $30k would be poor examples I'd imagine with K's nearing 100 thou or over and not what i'd in say pristine condition. Just having a look at Carsales.com the cheapest GT available on there is a 2003 BA MK1 4 speed auto for $28k in Mercury Silver with 120,000 kms on it. Most low km BA2's are still in the 38-44k bracket...but then they can ask what they want I guess...It's the final sale price that counts so all in all the SS sounds good I see FGGT build no 1 is on there for $15 off $100,000...dream on.

If I found an SS for $18k in good condition I'd buy it. Sell my WRX and pocket the $6-7k difference for my house!

Go the GT, you will never look back, would not be seen dead in a crummydore...would never consider driving one in public, even if it was free....crummydores were build to keep tossers out of falcons simple as that.
