I'd say the deck is thicker than 100mm. Its Post tensioned (top pocket live ends) and it looks like KF70 bondek, so probably 200mm thick.

Pretty bad, reminds me of a video I saw on a docu once where during a packed wedding reception the floor caved in (held in a multi story complex) and alot of people went down with it, many killed and injured. As mentioned before lucky this happened before it was fully occupied

i bet that wasnt a nice thing to experience. cant help thinking though, if i was the crane driver and i said "no, i think its not safe, wont be doing the job". what do i do when i have my boss saying that the engineer has ok'd it with a written report, its costing him $10000's per hour to be there. so just do it. well there is a written report from a structural engineer that knows more about these things than i do, do i do it or not. i reckon i would of done the job.
p.s i know very little about cranes or engineering. just a hypothetical thought.

This is all the crane driver He must inspect the site and if he thinks the job
unsafe DON'T DO IT. the crane driver has the last say. Not the Engineer, Not the rigger, Not the Boss "The Driver" |

100% correct... he has the last say... but as it goes... if you have the paperwork and marked where to setup and you are told do it then well it the enginerrs fault over the crane driver

I know a couple of guys that were working at this site. They are saying that the temporary bracing supports under the slab was not positioned correctly - thus allowing the truck's support ram to punch through the slab.

i work up the rd from where this happened. they were pulling the boom out yesterday. its sitting on a semi just outside the gates to site.

So what you are asking is if you have an automatic licence even if it is upgraded to manual automatically can it be upgraded manually by sitting for a manual test and if passed the automatic licence is automatically upgraded but if failed is the automaic licence automatically failed as well and do you have to read the road safety manual to sit for the manual upgrade or does the automatic licence test of the road safety manual automatically cover the manual test as well? |

All said and done at the end of the day regardless of who is at fault at least everyone on that site went home to their families after that incident. Could have been alot worse.

I cant see from the pic but im surprised there was not wood blocking pig sty'd under the outriggers to spread the load over a greater surface area. I only have a C6 lic (up to 60T) but everytime my rigger sets me up, we always use packing regardless of what ever surface i was on. Possibly wouldnt have made much of a difference but who knows..
