well where to begin ??? i work 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts and then 4 days off, 8 weeks annual leave. i love that no 2 days are the same at work, you never know what you will be up to next and you are constantly challenged. some of my patients might not think i am too nice but normally after midnight my care secreating gland doesnt work to well unless the patient is big sick. we get the usual losers calling an ambluance for cut fingers and other b.s. that isnt an emergency but they sure get a rude shock when they get the bill. next time it might help cure there stupidity and leave the "guts bucket" in the depot with the crew ready to respond to someone that really needs a paramedics skills.
mostly its a good job but hate suicides, no one wins. take care out there justin : |

I love my job.
it does have its moments, but as a general rule I cant think of something else that I would rather be doing. I am a security/access control installer/advisor. there is no beter thing than have a customer tell you that the last 3 techs walked out cause they had no idea. Pretty much get the jobs that no one else wants, it is useually not hard work but you do need to think about it. I actually thrive on getting the head fucck jobs.

I 'loved' my job, been there 6 years. After 2 years i became team leader and that was for 2 years until i got shafted out of the position by some overtime scabbin', knife whielding fairy who would aim it at any body's back he could. On afternoon shift earning $21 an hour so it aint all that bad, except i've had enough of the s**t that comes with it, so hopefully the pricks give me a package.

I work in the commercial flooring industry mainly on large building sites and sometimes I enjoy what I do but most times I loathe it. I work for myself but my mobile rings non-stop having to deal with Builders/Architects who employ you to do the job at the lowest tender, want the job done on their terms, expect you to be at their beck-and-call and pay 60-90 days. Then I have to employ sub-contractors who can't get out of bed and turn up on the job at a reasonable hour and do a decent day's work, take little pride in what they do, take absolutely no responsibilty for the quality of their work, won't go back to jobs to address any defects, but are remarkably quick to put their bill in and expect to get paid pronto.

Well last night I hated it and wanted to tell them to get you-know-whated and walk out but I think I was just in a bad mood cos I seemed to get every dick head in Perth calling. I also seemed to have "Dont believe me" tattooed on my forehead or something cos no one believed a word i said.
Why the hell would I lie to someone about a bus/train/ferry time? What would be the point? Ok yes if your being a complete tool some times we get vindictive and tell you wrong info, but how would you like it if we came into your work and started abusing you for no reason and shouting at you saying we know better and just generally making life hard? Well see how today goes. Whether its any better or not. Its generally good. Get many nice people who call up and area joy to talk to and help but some I just want to stab in the face and eat there heart. Yes I am evil. :P I work at the transperth info center on the phones so if any perth guys call up and get me have a chat but dont be a tool otherwise you could be waiting a long time for your service or not get there at all :P So yeah, mostly happy with the job. Some niggling things which will hopfully be sorted in a week or so. I really do need this job for a little while longer while i heal and then im leaving perth. Hit up the mines and get some bulk cash. |

I just started 28 days paid holidays and I've barely been working there for 6 months. Can't argue with that!
Oh, besides the fact I'll probably have to go back to my old job at the end. |

I love my new job... as a full time mechanical engineering student, a WAS working at safeway casually... and it was the most stressful envoriment I've experienced.
Thankfully now I'm working at a small engineering company as a trainee design draftsman. Its good to have a boss that is down to earth and will do anything to make things easier for you. The work is challenging, but thats what I need! years of stacking shelves almost killed me from boredom :P Pay aint bad either ;)

I still can't figure out why they pay me so much money, been with this mob for 18 years now so I guess you can say I am happy with it. Work in the corporate office in Perth as Exploration Manager for an Aussie mining company. So don't have to spend long periods of time out bush, but do visit the lads a lot.
In charge of global exploration so pretty well get to go anywhere, oh, and as for the salary I love it, can afford to keep the ex happy and still indulge my addicition. Booooooooost : Ahhh all those years as a pathetic poor uni student are finally paying off.... now if only I can get some heavy duty batteries for the pacemaker I will get another mod : Peter

Love my job. Business Development, so not chained to a desk, out on the road entertaining clients over lunch or coffee. Feels more social than work really, although there are the days of number crunching which balances it out I suppose. Just spent the weekend in the Whitsundays for work entertaining clients, and have to go back again next week, so it's not too bad!

I love my job but it depends really. Right now, I'm at a desk job. Hopefully, at the end of next year, I'll be back at sea. I didnt join the Navy to be stuck behind a desk so it kinda sucks right now.
*waits to be posted*

As per usual my boss has been looking at the numbers again and told us that we are not allowed to work overtime this month as we have gone over the allocated hours for work by 114 hours. he was okay with the fact that all the current work has been done and sent out. But couldn't tell us why we had to cut back, until Darren our work super spoke up and said " 3 other guys working is 114 hours " (3 X 38 =114).
Brett has looked at him in the most stupid way, and then the penny has dropped, in the rush to finish all the work that we were behind in, he hired 3 other welders, BUT didn't figure it into the allocated work times and schedules that he loves to stew over. YEAH........for my idot of a boss

HATE my Job! I work in a nightclub, (Not going to say which one because I ain't advertising those pricks!) I work Friday & Saturday night. I take home $260 for 16 hours work!
Working in a nightclub isn't as fun as most people think. Being one of the bar staff serving drinks would be alright, but I'm the poor bastard you see runnin around with a bucket picking up all the empty beverage containers, cleaning up the drunk scumbags puke that can't seem to make it into the toilet bowl! So the next time your at a nightclub, and you see the poor bastard picking up all the cups and bottles, help him/her out and pick up a couple! That's my gripe for the day!

I'm rather fond of my chosen line of work.
My employer loves its employees and is constantly trying to find ways to make working here better for us. We've got a brilliant AWA that provides plenty of opportunities to put in the extra hours and the extra effort and chase a decent year-end bonus and it also sets out a solid career progression plan. Theyve had big issues with "staff engagement" so they're always trying to improve working conditions, as turnover has been horriffic and they're clinging on to the knowledge base they have employed... more of a sydney thing where the job market is very competetive, but we all benefit. The work itself is fairly dry most of the time - there's only so much excitement you can get from banking, insurance and supernannuation.... and the hours are long (i choose to work long hours tho... i can leave at 5 if i want, and i dont get overtime for hanging around) but we get to do some cool stuff. Dont know of too many roles where a 25 year old can sit across the other side of the table from an executive team or board of directors and ask them to explain how/why they are doing what they do. Always something new coming up. That's very important IMO.
