For example, engines are routinely changed according to lifespan of various components, FOD, vibration etc. Each blade in each engine has a serial number and is managed as to total time, weight, whether it's been damaged and blended etc. As you can imagine, the components are so expensive it pays to get the maximum allowable time out of each part. In a GE90, there are over 1200 blades in the compressor alone, as many stators and in the hot section, over 500 air cooled blades and nozzles (shorter lifespan). So, as everything in aviation costs a bajillion times more than automotive, everything has a serial number which is in a huge database. If they can find more details inside the flaperon (as the ID plate was missing), then they'll be able to conclusively identify the part. There are only 2 other 777's where the remains are not known - EgyptAir which had a fire in the cockpit and Asiana Airlines where they slapped the seawall in SFO. Both have most likely been recycled, and there's no reason as to why they would end up in the ocean, but these other aircraft need to be ruled out.

Roll on the tin hat brigade. Here we have solid proof. For some unexplained reason, 370 ended up in the Southern Indian Ocean.

I dont know about you guys but I got angry just listening to the Malaysian Airlines CEO (I think it was him) on the radio this morning. The tone used made it out like they actually did something or that they had found the plane.
He thanked everyone for their help...but missed one person...Mother Nature!

Diego Garcia?? Got a link??
My auntie telepathically messaged me via our foil hats that her second cousin twice removed-father in laws-brothers third neighbor read on the internet that because MH370 had so many Chinese on board it was hijacked and landed at one of the Chinese owned mines in WA, buried and the passengers and crew are now slaves in the mines!!! It must be true!! It was on the internet!!! |

Extract taken from above article: Quote:
Another article indicated that the French government are conducting a legal investigation of the accident (as a result of French nationals being aboard the ill-fated flight) and that the official announcement of the BEA's findings may be delayed until the legal investigation is concluded. Whilst I have no doubt in mind the Malaysian government announcement will be confirmed by the BEA at some point in time, I still think the Malaysian government have jumped the gun a little......

Engines are changed more as a result of egt margin and specific fuel consumption rather than time limited components these days.

So why is it seeming a problem identifying the part as being from a particular plane? Why so long, and no real explanation for the delay? Surely the manufacturer should know their aircraft?

All this takes far longer than just reading a bunch of numbers and cross referencing. This is just my hunch as to the delay.

It was mentioned that the build stamp on the flaperon was consistent with that of the aircraft's time of manufacture (2002).
That's one way of knowing if your car has had a cluster swap, by looking at the build date sticker on it.

i don't know if it will make much difference even if it was a part of the plane, there is still an awful lot of water between Kuala Lumpur and reunion island, and apparently it is very deep .

I think there's a good chance this plane will be found, although who knows when. Just pure luck that the flaperon washed up and hopefully this instills better morale for the current search teams.

bobman yes a very small step forward but a long way to the end
but it gives some positive thoughts that yes they are looking in the right places even if we find the air craft it may take a long time to get all the aircraft recovered as some one just said this is deep deep water not too easy to recover thing s

I just hope if they find it they are able to recover data to understand what happened. We all know it crashed just where and why.
It is still possible there may be mechanical factors although from what we understand so far it is almost certain to be a deliberate action. Last edited by MITCHAY; 07-08-2015 at 07:22 PM. |

You are technically correct but when all rational thinking is applied it crashed.
Do you honestly believe it anywhere near plausible you can make nearly 250 people just disappear? And if so does it not perplex you if that were the case no ransom whatsoever has been made at all? Why else land a plane and keep them alive? |

The best quote I've heard, in relation to the search for the ill-fated MH370 plane, was that they will find the needle in the haystack.......they just need to locate the haystack first.

Well it can depend where you're getting that information from and how you process it. Another site run by a complete whack-job that is still convinced the Lunar landings were staged?
Just imagine the stink behind this if it was an American carrier. It would be the Holy Grail to conspiracy theorists. It would make 9/11 look like Bambi. |

.......or...... a stolen US missile was secreted aboard the flight by islamic state militant sympathisers and the US wanted it back, so they used some super-duper secret powers they have where they can remotely take control of any aircraft in the world and do whatever they want with it and all the passengers aboard (slavery most likely, I would think......) You guys really need to open up your minds a little more Craig H

Totally amazing March 8 is 2 years since the sad event and still no real answers
up to this point some debry found washed ashore some reports of the pilot found not sure if they are true The man pictured in the photo is actually Aung My Oo, a Myanmar migrant worker who was in hospital after being attacked in 2013. Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 vanished on March 8 2014 during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. so they were not true millions of dollars have been spent I do feel for the family's

notice how those that say it might be somewhere else is a tin hat wearer conspiracy theorist
yet others say it obviously crashed and that apparently seems the most logical explanaiton lol maybe it crashed and not one bit of flotsam has been found maybe it was shot down maybe it was hijacked maybe the whole plane was abducted by a giant mother ship
