Didn't even know Land Rover had this under their wings? Ford still seem to have a good relationship with LR so it's no suprise they would be willing to offer them the 2.0L EcoBoost, and adding volume to what appears to be a great engine.

Ford has engine supply agreements with Jaguar and land Rover,
all of their engines come from Ford....

Not all. The Gen III AJ V8 is a Jaguar only engine.

I'm sure they didn't have to offer them the 2.0 L EcoBoost though. It's a win-win for both sides, LR get this ripper of an engine (early reviews in Euro Fords say it's a top unit) and Ford get more volume. Wasn't aware Ford had all the LR/Jaguar engine contracts. Thanks for the heads up on that mate. With the adoption of the EcoBoost perhaps Ford will continue with engine supply for some time, could it extend to Tata as well?

When Ford signed with Tata, there was an agreed platform development strategy for the next five years and was also conditional on Ford supplying engines. and engineering support.

And Ecoboost engines are no biggie, J/LR doesn't compete with Ford
and EB is available to Volvo as well....

On a different note:
what if I told you that Ford owns the DEW platform and all the aluminium technology used on the alloy version. Jaguar perfected the constructional problems and a whole lot of that stamping/riveting/gluing info went back to Dearborn...

This engine agreement makes sense, and I predicted this would be the case when Ford was still in the process of selling LR and Jag. Ford will build the 4.4L V8 diesel in Mexico and it will be used in Range Rovers. Hopefully Ford will use it internally also.

I'd be very excited. While it would rule out most of Fords range, who's to say they can't implement this on a Ford GT successor? Mmmmmmmm
