Wow, the old saying comes to mind "what is the world coming to"
I remember when I was in K-2 and I did them (can't now haha). I never heard of anyone being 'injured' by them. Sure you fell, but not injured yourself.....Suppose it stops them from being sued the instant someone does though ey

My daughter busted her arm while doing a back-over cartwheel at a private girls school. Needed surgery to fix it.
There is no way I consider the school responsible. She is a kid, and they do things like this. No one is to blame. I hate helicopter parents and those who blame someone for their kids injuring themselves. It is part of growing up to injure yourself. How else are you supposed to learn?

H.G is probably the REAL reason for the ban.
Growing up kids need to learn about risk. When they grow up and enter the 'real world' and/or get their first car they aren't going to be wrapped up in cotton wool. |

What's next....... I no I didn't like school when I was there but now days its just making it worse kids are not going to won't to go if all they do is learn. U cant play at lunch time as we dont won't your mum or dad to sue us. Lol
If kid's go to a playground and do cartwheels and brake a finger can we sue the cancel for not providing a gymnasium to supervise.

Absolutely ridiculous.
I can only think to blame cost of living pressures for this though. (sort of) Think about it, many years ago it was not so much of a problem to have a child home injured as one parent was not working anyway. Fast forward to today where every bit of overtime is needed to pay household bills of foxtel, TV payments, home loan that is way too big, etc, etc. (all optional things, hence the 'sort of' earlier) You can then see the driving force behind some of these parent's decisions to look for some sort of compensation. The law firms that dig this crap up are the next big contender for blame as they have allowed these inquisitive parents to find the pathways needed to get said compensation. and in so doing, ruin it for everyone else. Common sense needs to be enforced as a law! |

yep! me too.....well..... that was until I seen the railway kids doing it without knickers put me off hamburgers for life! I picked up my granddaughter from Kindy a while back, she came racing up to give granddad a hug as she always does.....another little girl came charging up behind her and tripped over and took a bit of bark off her knee I scooped her up, brushed off the dirt and gave her a hug to stop her from crying.....I got into a bit of poop for that one the mafia that runs the kindies don't allow "touching".......I had to "explain myself" the mother of the little girl came in as I was "explaining" to the chief of the establishment in a rather raised voice manner just how silly that rule is to a 3 year old that has been injured the mother simply gave me a hug and said thank you, I'm glad there was someone here to pick her up and give her some sympathy I'm a father of two, and a grandfather to three, god parent to umpteen dozen....I love kids and they love me......my first response to an injured child is to offer a bit of comfort not allowed in this day and age apparently.....not even from the teachers strange world we live in.......but anyway the little girl got a bandaid and her bit of sympathy so all was right in her world now when I pick up my grandkiddy I am given a little leeway....as all the kids come charging up to say howdy and show me what they have painted.....bit hard for the gestapo to stop them all...particularly when i have the parents approval

I am lost for words at the levels people go to nowadays. We may as well be raising robots, not children.

I haven't read all of this but I think I get what it's about and, like most here, believe this is a load of bollocks.
Kids will be kids. They do stuff. They get hurt sometimes doing it. That's life. They learn from it. Sure, make them aware of the dangers but they have to learn themselves. It's like learning to walk. You have a few falls, you get hurt, but you do it. I wonder what will be next. Banning sports days and interschool footy matches............or has that been done already? |

Don't no if yous are reading the link. They can still do them but they need to be supervised by the gym teacher.

It's not that kind of world anymore. Everything is always someone elses fault.

Not the schools fault.
I want to sue Slater and Gordon and all the rest of these ambulance chasing lawyers for screwing the world. Sick of hearing their self righteous bull stories about how they will uphold the right and make others pay for what is most of the time someone not looking out for themselves, or just plain accidents. They are only in it for their cut.

Can't blame them entirely though. It's hard enough to live in this world. Everything is so expensive.

Sadly stupidy like this will continue while parents sue sue sue because their kid had an accident at school.
Remember all those old unsafe steel slippery sides at play grounds??? I would burn my *** but it didnt bother me one bit! The amount of knocks to the heads we all got when we were younger certainly didnt affect us... woop woop woop woop narf!

Nothing new, when I was in primary school from the mid 90s to 2003 this is what was banned for us:
- Pokemon cards - Gameboys - Footy - Digimon - Bayblades (who remembers these rofl?) - Most sports in PE, we could only do gymnastics in grade 3 and aerobics in grade 6, how lame. They built a skate park next to the school back then and we weren't allowed on that before school started for some reason, teachers used to come out and yell at us. They should ban all the useless crap they teach you and maybe teach something to prepare you for the real world later in life, because its been one hell of a shock to the system for me, maybe less Romeo and Juliet and more real life essentials.
