Default Falcon Trading Post. Help us get off the ground!

So i had a thought. This probably won't mean much to non-Facebook users, but I'm sick of trying to buy, swap or sell anything Ford related ( cars, rims, performance parts etc) on most Automotive pages on Facebook today.

They are completely swamped with Commodores, and i say no more! I have created a page called 'Falcon Trading Post'. The aim of this page is to make somewhere for Falcon enthusiasts to trade parts, exchange pictures and help each other out with any problems they may be having.

I believe that if even 1/10th of the knowledge in this forum can make it onto FTP, it will be a massive success! So please guys, if anybody with Facebook could give this page a like, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have only just created it, but I'm working on setting it up, adding some pictures and establishing some connections with Falcon related pages.

I truly believe we have the ability to make this happen, LONG LIVE THE FALCON!

Add some rules to it.
1. All listings must have a price.
2. All listings must have a location.

In all honesty the amount of facebook pages getting started up is a bit stupid. Its like anyone that wants a bit of glory does it.

Thanks for the feedback MrEL.
I'm doing this as a Falcon enthusiast, and because I'm sick of trying to buy miscellaneous items anywhere other than eBay, not interested in glory. In fact, I'm not inviting anybody with my personal profile because I don't want the attention.

So can i count on your support?

Ebay is better for searching a specific item in a specific post code or state, secure payment thru paypal or direct into your account, down side is the fees for selling (althought not that exhorbitant), alternative is Gumtree (which is free) so I dont see the need for your site

I dont have a Facebook account and never will, its open to abuse and not very secure.

Good luck convincing ppl to use it

I'm out!

As for "make somewhere for Falcon enthusiasts to trade parts, exchange pictures and help each other out with any problems they may be having" ......... isnt that what THIS forum is for??

.... again why would I use it?

(convince me!)

I have used a few images of member cars, full credit has been given.

If you don't want you car on there please message me and I'll take it down immediately.

Thanks guys

...... from what you've explained you want to do, I can't see you are doing anything different than isn't already available right here, on this forum, or am I missing something?

If I was searching for a place to get information about ford parts, cars and pictures I would come straight here (blimey! I did!) and wouldn't even consider facebook.

So like I said convince me to join or support it, which is why you started this thread.

......... and you didnt answer my question, "why would I use it?"

Well, you probably wouldn't use it and that's fine, but at the same time there's just as many people that wouldn't use this forum. Not everybody wants to get involves in a forum and that's where this Facebook page comes in for people after selling or buying some miscellaneous items.

I think that it's a great idea, goodluck!

Isn't the onus on you to get the copyright owner's permission first, rather than trade off the free and unauthorised use of other people's images knowing full well that the prospect of them discovering the use of their images is very slim.

Poor form in my view.

nice idea ignore the negativity, some people are just out to shoot down things for the fun of it . these people are commonly referred to as trolls and only serve to waste bandwidth
one thing you might want to look at though is all the pics with a burnout theme will do nothing for your credibility with most forum members

liked it came up as a suggested page on my face book

the only thing I would suggest is the pics from here like the one taken by wulos you may want to ask for permission to use it ie he has a water mark on it so could have a copyright
onthem ( not sure as it was one posted here )

It's not negativity, it's called constructive critisism, and also not trolling, it's called having an opinion.

From what I can deduce the OP is setting up a psuedo Ford site on facebook so all the f/b addicts dont miss out, fair enough, good luck and all that, but cant see too many people wanting to transfer their information/interest from this site to facebook.

(btw V3RSAC3 you dont have to become a member of a forum to access the information, so I dont accept that arguement)

constructive criticism implies you actually recommend a change to make an improvement not just say why should I get involved and make statements that are calculated to induce a negative attitude in others.
If you want to be constructive as you claim indicate how he might make changes to make it more interesting to AFF members and how to not get members offside ( something I did myself )
the basic concept is good and bear in mind that every ford owner is not a member of AFF so this may get you items exposed to an entirely different group

Unless an add on any forum has a contact detail other than PM, a non forum member cant contact the seller ...
If the add has contact details for all to use, like a fone number then the add is good
If not your only window shopping
You generally cant post adds on forums unless a certain amount of posts are acheived first, most forums have different rules for this

Appreciate all the feedback guys, good and bad! I will see wulos about using the images, thanks. I admit i should have done it beforehand. As long as you know I'm not going to be even trying to make any money whatsoever off this page with your car images.

The cars that are on there are only because they're my personal favorites.

I'm not trying to steal member off here, it's mainly for people that already have Facebook.

BF-2K7 has given me plenty to think on, so i thank you for that!

Well said, BradZ, a good mature response, especially in noting BF-2K7 constructive criticism. Hopefully, au3xr6 will learn from this process, too, and have a much more realistic view of what is constructive criticism and what is a troll.

BradZ, you've set a good example here, and hope your venture meets the needs of those who use your Facebook site.

Glad to have helped your thought process BradZ .............. that was my intention, and yes a very mature response and attitude.

I have no animousity towards what you are doing, it's just not for me.

.... as for au3xr6 I think I have been vindicated from your tyraid of 'negativaty and trolling' considering BradZ actually got what I was saying ......... pity you didn't.

nevermind you can't always get you point across to everyone.
