Ok, So I am starting to think about my next car (I'll keep the FG turbo ute 460rwkw) but what something different, preferably with rear seats.
If no one decides to bring over a full size pick up from the US factory (not paying 120,000 for a $40k car via importers) I am thinking about going old school crazy with a budget of about 50k (also using it to promote my business). Options so far are: Volvo 240 station wagon V8 conversion (Miami 5.0 SC maybe?) Jeep wrangler Hemi conversion Dick Johnston style EX falcon (probably with full decal set) and a 5.0 miami Conversion A Queen Family Truckster replica from National Lampoon's Vacation Dodge charger with full dukes of hazard paint job old school pick up truck with modern v8 conversion (old dodge or ford etc) old merc with a v8 conversion yes - i dont want to go back to a slow car open to any ideas - have a year or 2 to sort it out |

I love all of those options, you can't go wrong on a Ford or a Hemi type project.
But please don't laugh at this one as it is at the other end of the scale. How about an old Mini with a 1 Litre EcoBoost motor in it. That would have to fly.

XR or XT Falcon done old school NASCAR.
I do like the XE option, the latest XE by Phase autos has me thinking real hard about some thing down those lines. Or instead of the Jeep an International Scout with a hemi. |

If you do any Miami based project I'd look at increasing the budget, an engine this new going into something old will no doubt have lots of hidden costs you won't realize until later on.
Some cool ideas you've got though!

What business are you in and promoting? That might make a difference to what I choose. But the Volvo wagon with the Miami sounds like the go. Should get it done for under $30K I'd reckon.

Think the biggest issue is,what can you legally build for road use in your state ....
What from your list can be easily done within your budget XD,XE DJR replica sounds good, but its gotta be done right or its just another half attempt and they usually look half attempted |

The Jeep with the Hemi is great but doubt you will get that done within your budget
I think the Volvo is an interesting idea |

Agree with the dukes of hazard being a no go. maybe a smokey and the bandit replica conplete with CB, all the parts are available and people build them in the states, may be able to get one shipped already done, this mob have museum to do it up state trans ams. http://www.transamflorida.com/TRANSAMFORSALE.htm

E36 3-series sedan with either an LSX or SBF. Or maybe a clevo? You can buy kits, pre-fabbed engine and transmission mounts etc. from the US.

thanks guys, some great ideas.
its a plumbing business so it should have some ability to carry something (3 series bmw is out unfortunatly along with the transam) i think the nsw rta regs will determine my engine swap options thinking may be a ratrod pick up or a hotrod pick up could be good. but that v8 volvo 240 station wagon keeps naging at me |

Well this fits the V8 and crazy car requirements, but not sure how much plumbing gear you would fit in
(But who cares, think what you can claim at Tax time )

I worked with a guy who had put a 4.4L V8 out of a P76 into a Volvo 240 sedan. Sounded great.
The Volvo wagon would get my vote. Not sure if Id bother fitting a Miami though. Maybe something simpler like a 5.0L Windsor or 5.0L chev.

You could carry stuff in this:
http://www.streetlegaltv.com/news/he...dijon-mustard/ Early Shadows can be had for less than $15K, choose wisely and all you'll have to do is the running gear.
