"Oil changes are one the simpler vehicle maintenance tasks and there’s little doubt that many of our readers have performed countless oil changes over the years. While the task isn’t that difficult on most vehicles, the Bugatti Veyron isn’t your typical Honda Accord.
In a video posted by Royalty Exotic Cars, CEO Houston Crosta has his team perform an oil change on his Veyron. Most owners likely have this done by dealerships, but Crosta implies this costs $21,000 and requires 27 hours of work. That seems awfully expensive, even for a Veyron, but the process isn’t as simple as removing a filter and letting the oil drain out of the engine. Instead, the car needs to put on a lift so the underbody paneling can be removed. That’s just the tip of the iceberg as the rear wheels have to be taken off. From there, the carbon fiber wheel housings are removed to get to bolts to which are hidden behind the bodywork. After those are removed, an assortment of other components need to come off including the rear spoiler and carbon fiber engine cover. The latter is one massive component that also includes part of the rear fascia. With the engine now fully exposed, Crosta replaces the air filters and then moves onto draining the oil. Even this isn’t a simple process as the Veyron has 16 different oil plugs that need to be removed. After the oil is drained, owners simple have to unscrew the old filter and replace it with a new one. After reassembling the car and making sure everything works, Crosta and his friend said the process wasn’t as bad as they expected. Things were pretty difficult at the beginning, but everything becomes pretty straightforward once the engine engine cover is removed. That being said, it’s probably not a task you want to attempt by yourself." https://www.carscoops.com/2018/07/di...t-faint-heart/

As an overall percentage of service cost vs vehicle costs, its 100x cheaper to service than a a falcon!

Hello,
That's loose change! Anyone who owns a Veyron would have money coming out of every orifice, lol, they probably carry 50 grand in loose change, its a minor equivalent to Kerry Packer tipping a waitress 100 grand after winning 20 million on the card table at a casino. Any male who cannot change their own oil is missing out of one of life's most precious moments, just laying under your car, in the dirt and watching that dirty black non viscous black gold, Texas Tea, pour out of your beautiful engine into a container, it is a great pleasure, and your engine is very grateful when you pour that new golden honey into its sizzling innards, and let's you know when you start it up by quietly humming its finest tune!..lol..hahaha... Cheers Billy. Last edited by slowsnake; 26-07-2018 at 12:07 PM. Reason: add a bit |

I had to laugh when I watched this sometime back. Blokes in their jeans laying all over the cars carbon panels. In my limited experience, many owners of expensive cars fail to maintain them as they believe their driving something superior that somehow doesn't need maintenance so they ignore it or get Lube mobile & non genuine parts etc.

While $21K sounds a lot for an oil change to us mere mortals, I think anyone who can afford a $3M car, has probably just earned much more than $21K in the 27 hours it takes.

Hello,
There's a TV show ( yank ) called Plane Repo, guys miss payments on Lear Jets..even Airbus passenger jets, it makes Veyron owners look "kinda little league" Somehow I think these cars are financed by wannabe "big time money men" or leased through company accounts. Real deal movers and shakers have chauffeured Rollers, not Bugatti Veyrons! Then again some folk may spend all they have on one car or one Plane, for love of the Marque, not the prestige!..and service it themselves. You gotta laugh at Jeremy Clarkson waiting 2 years for a Ford GT40 and it broke down first day he picked it up and drove it,lol. I've put more than the cost of a Veyron oil change on a bloody racehorse at Rosehill!..and lost..in a photo finish! then picked it up on the last race on an 8/1 shot,.think you know what an upset tummy is!...lol..hahaha...... Cheers Billy. |

Hello,
Just talking about earning $21 grand in 27 hours it takes is pretty light on estimate! My barrister in my 2005 Work Cover injury charged me for 4 hours work, sitting on his fat overpaid ***, charged me more than $11,500.00 just for talking!..my solicitor charged less, he was only $26,000.00?..so $37,500.00 total. My solicitor worked 9 months but not fulltime. My neurosurgeon cost for 1 level ACDF on C8 nerve/level cost according to NSW Gov medicare guidelines, $53,000.00 just for his fee not private hospital, anaesthetist and all the necessary peripheral extras including MRI x 2 plus 30 visits to physio and artificial hand and finger braces, in total was in excess of $110,000.00 The surgery took 45 mins!..no ****,through the front of my throat, 3 silks to close. Maybe these people would buy and could afford to maintain a Bugatti Veyron! Cheers Billy. |

This guy owns Royalty Exotics in Vegas and they do servicing in house on their cars. He has stated that the car is out of warranty, the extended warranty cost is extreme and because the car has the aftermarket Mansory kit on it - he couldn't get the warranty anyway.

Tires cost $30,000 a set, and every fourth tire change requires you to replace the wheels (at a cost of $120,000) because the tires are glued to the rims and you can only do that three times.

Target market for these cars - people who are rich, but are happy to not be rich for much longer.

Target for these cars....self centred, selfish, greedy people who like to show off, its a " prestige " thing! they like to show the poor folk of this world and the not so poor their wealth, and sadly its either I'll gotten gains or family money. How many members here own their nice cars for its " look what I have value, its prestige value " A few maybe, but most folk here own old classics, and for different reasons, but most of all because they love them! They love the Marque, the sound, the value comes second though not to all members here. An old 60's Mustang just says something a new Mustang can't, and that's class, new cars including Mustangs are just computers " masquerading as cars " Cheers Billy. |

Target market for these cars, people who are rich and don’t mind getting walked by much cheaper cars, and instead console themselves in the fact they are in the most expensive car money can buy.
