Only 71,000km
Always been serviced by Ford Dealers Last service Oct 22 Dec 22 rough running/idle, lack of power Dealer was going to perform diagnostics but decided to just change a spark plug March 23 .... same problem, rough running/idle Dealer claims spark plug is difficult to remove and removal "may" damage motor (and need replacing). Dealer claims "most likely" cracked head or block and will probably require a new motor. Well they removed the plug without damage, now just waiting to see what the damage is ..... in the meantime emailed Ford Customer Relations asking where we stood and whether they would accept any responsibility (part cost). They replied, sorry not liable under Aust Consumer Law, warranty period is over, your problem. As a lifetime Ford customer (and 27year employee) less than impressed, if the motor does need replacement we'll offload the Focus and look at other manufacturers alternatives (despite giving up a $5-$10 thousand ex employee discount). Rant over ...... |

That sucks.
Mums LZ Focus has gone in for a new motor recently too, leaked coolant into the cylinders. Her warranty expired in 2021, however the dealer is replacing it free of charge under warranty, and has given her a hire car (MG3, a truely horrible thing) till it’s fixed in about a month. Same deal, always serviced by the Ford dealer it was purchased from. |

Really pleased for you in getting it sorted by the dealer .... well done, hope it keeps performing for your mum.
As Ford wouldn't have a bar of it after we contacted them direct we managed to get the dealer to approach them, sadly the dealer didn't respond and we purchased a demonstrator Mit. ASX MR, very few vehicles available, really wanted the ASX Exceed. We wanted to buy quickly while the Focus was running OK (well sort of anyway). After the Focus was sold we made contact with the dealer as we still hadn't heard, turns out Ford at some stage said they'd cough up for the parts but still around $5,000 that we needed to fork out for labour, too little too late. Shows again, probably true with all makers, it's the dealers that let the side down. |
