Default asian run chip shops and potato scallops...

im not being racist but they CANNOT do a potato scallop right. i absolutely love the things but every little corner store or chip shop run by asians gets it wrong. funnily enough they can do a wicked pasta at every place ive seen too. anyone else seem to think they cant get a good meal on the go nowadays?

How do they do your potato scallops Simmo?

Actually, going slightly off topic, back to another thread about different states having different names for things, this is another one.

First time I went to a Fish and Chip shop here, and asked for two potato cakes, and they looked at me really weird, until I pointed to what I wanted, to which they then replied "Oh, you mean potato scallop"....

sure is Des. and i like my scallops to be edible. not caked in 3 feet of batter, deep friend for an hour and a half then the inside magically hardened to within microns of the breaking point of my teeth.

Spent my youth growing up in Boondall. There was a good shop across from the state school on Sandgate Rd. Don't know what it's called now, but last time I was visiting family it was still there and not a bad feed. I'll be back up in Bris-Vegas at Easter, I'll have to look around and find a good 'un.

sorry sourbastard for posting in the bar which has this caption,

Yes that one was a hum dinger, but on a whole it was atleast entertaining, for us, not for cruizinEB and his itchy ring of fire.

I heard you don't even own a car that's half decent. Isn't that right SB.

And they are called potato fritters....why??? because they are a fritter. scallops are those little sea creatures that you eat and make you sick if certain fish shops don't cook them right.

Johnny Cash, great musician, who sadly never tried a potato cake from an asian fish shop. He may have liked them, we unfortunately may never know. Scientists hope to one day reanimate his corpse to ask this specific question.
