Default Personalised Number Plates

I wonder how many people go out and buy up on personalised plates and then try and flog them off at unbelieveable prices. i dont think, even if i was desperate for the plate, that i would give people like this my money unless they were asking the price they are really worth

Not a lot of good ones in that list.

V85LTR is good, but not at all worth the asking price.

partially true Ash - prestige plates like mine are $2195 but you can get some for around $395 or $495 if you want to stick with combination of letters and numbers.

I hate it. It is ripping off people. They are forced to buy a plate at a BS price because someone wanted to make cash.

The should be sold for the same price as purchase IMHO!

How much a year does it cost for the all letter ones?
In NSW it now cost $100( unless you allready had them) a year just for black and whites with 2 letters and 3 or 4 numbers when it used to be free. I asked someone at the RTA about it and they said that heaps of people hand them back after the first year because they didn't realize that they had to pay every year. She said hardly anyone gets black and whites anymore. 25 grand for horses well that just tells you how stupid some people are more money than sense.

For 7 Letters/Numbers in the NT, it is $150!!! BARGAIN!!! No annual costs either!!
Mind you, every man and his dog has em, but still, cheap as chips.
Goes to show what the other states make out of them hey!

holy crap no wonder everyone has them I would to at that price.
That just makes the $100 PA for black and whites in NSW even more silly.

I have TCKFRD in NSW. Not displaying them because I dont own a Tickford ... yet... Though I do know where the NSW plates "CHIEF" are. On a 2001 Holden Ute, in that dark green colour they have. I would pay a couple of grand for CHIEF plates.

The Price of ACT plates vary depending on what's on them. It's nice to be able to resell your plates later, that allows you to try to justify the cost of the plates to yourself.

I was talking to the PPQ people at the Brisbane Motor Show and they confirmed what Flappist said some time back ... that seven letter plates will be available in June ... but the ones like TYPHOON etc, will be auctioned.

I got an awsome set of plates for chrissy last year. They are black slimline with gold writing and they say JOSH89. Because i live in NSW though i pay every year for them. I pay $250 for the fact that they are prestige plates, and i pay $230 for the colour, as it is not standard. I now fork out $480 in plates alone, then add insurance of $700, my cars looking very expensive to have, let alone drive!!

A friend of mine who moved to Syd from the NT refused to change over his rego or licence, because he had 7 digit plates, and they were so cheap.
He said something about not having demerit points on licences there, so he could speed all he liked and just pay the fines.

I'm silly enough to pay $400 a year for my number plates, though I do get told how good they look on the car.
The plate fee is usually more than the rego fee!

WHAT THE HELL? I cannot believe what I am reading; you pay $2000 for a plate and then 300-400 a year because they are a different color? What the hell difference does it make what color your plates are? OMG, I thought we had it bad in VIC, I soooo hope that they don’t bring in these ridiculous rules. I thought a fee of like $100 for changing plates from car to car was bad, but an annual fee. What a rip off
