Well it has started.
The 2 games already held were quite entertaining to watch, with lots of goals and entertaining styles of play. Germany 4 - Costa Rica 2 Ecuador 2 - Poland 0 Tonight its England turn. Im not an England fan, so I hope its an entertaining game. |

With the way the ball is, im expecting Beckham and Gerrard to have a go at long range and from free kicks. Could be a high scoring match.

Two cracking goals last night by the Germans. The Polish were very disappointing in the second game. FF NB - the forum moderators should make this thread a sticky for the next four weeks. |

Yep 2 cracking goals by the Germans...Ecuador did well against Poland.
Looking forward to see how the Poms go,they should win but you never know..... Nah I never hate myself, played all my life thanks to my Italian parents but am Australian born. Importantly have learnt after any result it's only a game. Now having married a Portugese and our 2 boys playing Football our house is "Aussieaussieaussie !, Forza ! and Go Porkoes lol " it's a hoot !!!!

England don't look too impressive IMO. We'll see if they improve, I hope not. England losing in anything makes me a happy boy. :thebirds:

yer ripper game the Trinidad-Sweden game, Tinidad with ten men in their first world cup hold out Sweden ! Fantastic effort and yes Racecraft Dwight Yorke is all class....
England game was impressive how much Paraguay left the door open many times the first 30mins of the game I couldn't believe the Poms couldn't finish them off then, some nice controlled play by them but they got to be unhappy not putting more in the net !

As for the England game, it was England's reputation and not England which beat Paraguay. The Paraguayan team were shell shocked for the first 15 minutes of the game. Once they regrouped they gave as good as they got. I wasn't impressed by England's performance last night. FF Last edited by Falcon Freak; 11-06-2006 at 02:34 PM. |

I was very disappointed with England after the performance they gave in the first 20 minutes. One thing I have noticed, unlike Brazil and Argentina and the like, they lack a killer instinct, to really finish off teams when they have the upper-team. If they need to win, they'll win by 1, if they need a draw, they'll get the draw, which is all well and good until you come up against teams such as Brazil, where one goal means nothing.

I stayed up to watch the poms. I thought after the own goal, that it was going to be a large score line. England didn't need to do much, and they scored. I thought that maybe if the poms are as good as the pommie supporters think they are, then they take paraguay to task. But it never happened.
I was so hoping that England would lose. I'm sick of the poms at work down playing ever ygame the socceroo's win. Saying that teams who play Australia send 2nd string teams because they don't care, this is why Australia is where they are. Might time to call immigration I think :

Um.... NO ! It is impossible to lose if the opposition don't score against you ! And they were not lucky to get that goal, it was a result of pressure & a great free kick. |

Dutch leading their first Game 1-0 near half time. A step above all the other teams I have seen so far.
