Default New anti-speeding advert

Hi guy's

On New Zealand television tonight there is a new Government-run anti-speeding advert showing a Mercury silver BA XR8. Basically the ad shows the XR going through a series of corners (very much like the original BA XR6 advert), while the voice over is talking about weight transfer and pushing things to the limit through the corners.

It ends with the XR losing control and rolling over a bank, then hitting a fallen log as it ends up on its roof.

Is this ad also running in Australia, or is it a NZ only thing?

If there wasn't land mines all over the road he would never have lost it, quite well done though.

I was going to start this thread myself!

Hopefully Ford sue the f*cking government agency/LTSA. It is exactly the same as the BA launch ad. The middle aged man, the winding NZ roads, the Mercury Silver BA XR6, the way they show him kicking up a gear using the SportsShift mode in the Tiptronic BA, the fact they debadged the car, including the massive ford logo in the front grill..

Might be a good ad, but why did they pick on Ford?

The first time I saw this ad I knew what they were doing, they obviously modeled it on the original BA ad ("Can't get enough of this"). I have it on my pc and the similarities are ridiculous.

Must have switched off the DSC.
I guess Ford could sue them for copywright infringment on their ad and slander by saying their cars are dangerous.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I have the original 2003 BA ad. But they do stick these Government ads on thier website, however it seems they havn't got around to it. I will post a link when they do - they only have the old ads up at the mintue.

The way it was done, from the winding road shots and nice filters, made it look like an actual car advert. Problem is that it's too close to the original BA advert.

I saw it on channels One, Two and TV3.

Ive seen the ad twice and the similarity to the BA launch ad is uncanny. Its obviously intentional.

It annoys me how minimal the damage is. If they're going to crash a clean BA XR6 why not go nuts and put it in a horrific accident, completely destroying it instead of a just gently rolling down a hill onto its roof. :togo:

This is problem I have seen with all of these ads so far. The impacts haven't been realistic, for example the ad where the Lexus plows in to that silver Mondeo wagon, the impact isn't consistant with the high speed nature of the advert, it just bounces back unrealistically.

In the real world the Mondeo would be destroyed, there would be massive deformation, the front wheels would be in the drivers seat - there would be no survival space for the front occupants at all.

They should look at some of the high speed crashes that Fifth Gear has done.

The country speeding one is bloody stupid. I frequently commute along country roads, and the real issue with them is slow drivers. Nothing worse than being in a 100 zone, with no overtaking lanes and being stuck behind a white camry doing 65 because the driver doesnt feel comfortable. Situations like this force driver's to be aggressive and overtake under circumstances that may not be safe.

Frequent overtaking lanes, wider lanes and proper road quality will reduce the road toll on country roads - Not a stupid ad targeting 'faster' drivers

Furthermore - Why are the RTA targeting Ford? Recent hoon law statistics saw more than 60% of vehicles seized were commodores. I hope for catch on to this, and try to sort this issue out before it goes further and their company name gets tainted.

This made me LOL - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ge47ktrz4Sg

Yes, this ad is very similar to the 2003 BA Falcon ad. I can't see though how it in anyway defames or gives Ford a bad name.

In my opinion, it's a great ad. Well done and hopefully it'll make a few think twice before pushing the limit around tight corners.

On second looks, maybe it is a little too close to the original, which can be found here:

I'm a big fan of the LTNZ ads actually, particularly "The faster you go the bigger the mess" ones, because they are very realistic, and quite confronting.

The new ad is not too bad, but that Falcon doesn't know whether it is a 6 or 8!

The old 'Take another look at intersections' ads were good too.
I remember the top one used to have me in a fit of laughter when it came out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw0MNGxSSi4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Bt_ad_6ojk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amQsPnWFwzE

There's been some good drunk driving ones too with a touch of humour but you Aussies would just mock the accents.

OMG, that's funny, especially after watching the original.
I reckon their just burning money with these ads. For a lot of people (myself), they are seen as entertainment rather than a traumatic experience. People that are hoons won't stop because they have seen one of these adverts. IMHO.
