A nuisance cat (feline type) some help pls!

There is a cat whom for the last few months has habitually sprayed the front & back doors of my home & more recently has taken it upon itself to hop up onto any vehicle parked on my property (overnight) & pi$$ on the windscreen & the front bar, wtf?? (seems to have a grudge). I really don't care much for cats (too chewy) so I contacted my local council, 1 option is to hire a cat trap ($60 refundable deposit for 2 weeks, no trap/disposal costs) which seems like a good option (in my area it's illegal to allow cats to roam free at any time) so IF I were to trap this maurauding moggie the owner (if found) would have to pay a release fee & a fine. Even though this may be my best course of action, I'm open to (humane)deterrent suggestions. so any other ideas would be much appreciated.:

Trap it in a cat trap, its the only way, ive been through this 3 times now, if its owned it will have ID of some sort and you can contact the owner or the council can identify it and contact the owners, its rare for a "pet" to be hard to approach, if you can't approach it quietly and "friendly" than my bet is its a wild or dumped tom (judging by the spraying), in that case its no use to anyone and the council will dispose of it humanely.

Interested to hear peoples suggestions... I have the same problem, I bought my son a female cat which we have had desexed and is always locked up at night but that doesnt stop the toms from spraying every door or window of the house(which makes the house smell if you open a window) and even ripping the fly wire off some windows trying to get in. I thought of using a cat trap but didnt think it would be legal. Might have to call the local council. I was going to put an anon letter in the suspected cat owners letter box telling them that if it isnt locked up it would be caught and taken to the pound.

Catch it and give it a quick bath - hopefully it will be too traumatised to want to return to your home again

I had the same problem and was told to put tobasco sauce on the top corners of the bonnet and boot .

The cats tend to rub there to find a sharp edge, once the tabasco gets em they'll never go on your car again.

Thats an interesting suggestion, however I cant help picturing myself driving along looking like the scene from National Lampoons Xmas Vacation? with all the seagulls attacking the wagon.

You could try some sort of animal repellant on the doors too. I used a spray in the backyard for the dog(on a certaom bit of yard) and my dad used the same spray where cats used to pee in one corner of their house. He reckons his tomcat wont pee there anymore because of the spray. I bought the stuff from bunnings for $7.

There are various dog & cat chemical deterrent products you can buy from the gardening section at any Bunnings store. Some are in powdered form that you dissolve into water then sprinkle about, whilst others are in crystal form. The idea is to sprinkle this stuff around your garden, down the side of your driveway, and around the perimetre of the house. Don't know about putting on your car though, but the cat should stay away if the deterrent is within the general area.

I've used the latter a few times to keep cats off the garden, and it seemed to work OK at the time. Worth a try.

I know what i would do, but im on a farm so we can shoot them, just get the cat trap and a cheap tin of food for it, open it a little bit and either hang it on the hook or sit it on the plate at the bottom, good luck...
plus, dont get too close to the cage they can still get ya sometimes..

We have big problems at work in our shed. Since we sell Dog Biscuits, they flock here for a feed. We have a trap here at the moment. We catch them, ring the council, and they deal with them from there.

I had a problem with a cat a while ago. It was walking the fence and making my dog bark. The people who owned the cat complained about the barking dog! I told them it was their cat causing the problem, they didnt care. The council man was out having a chat to us about our barking dog and just at that time he went off. I took the council guy out the back and there was the cat on the fence teasing the dog.

He went to his car got a trap for me and said bring the cat to the pound when you catch it. Barking problem fixed.

Contact your local council pound and ask for a cat trap. It is legal to trap a cat on your property but you must treat it humainly. Take it to the pound and they will deal with it.

I had a similar problem with the cat (a Persian show cat) accross the street but I was unable to determine which house it was from. My two prong attack involved detering by buying a German Shepherd and warning owner. I dropped a letter in all the letter boxes in my immediate area advising that I was hiring a trap and the first time the cat was caught it would receive a soaking from the hose then released, second offence cat shaved bald (wearing welding gloves) and released, third offence cat taken to council. Never seemed to get as far as hiring trap, owners must have gotten the hint.

Not sure about "pet", it's a ginger maingy looking thing, fat too, seems unloved & has a particular problem with my 3 Fords.......... :togo: but point taken, we must think of humane ways of destr.........I mean deter it, if not capture. Me thinks cat trap is best option, then sprinkle animal repellant on it, after that, it'll not only have no friends, it'll be unable to tolerate itself.

The type I've been using is called "SCAT", it works ok, but re-application is recommended all too often, seems to work short term, I'll spray again today & see how it goes.

Mothballs keep my cat and other cats off my car.

So does my lock up garage... that keeps lots of animals and stuff away from my car at night.

1 of my cars stays in the garage most of the time, another stays in the carport, its the carport & driveway parking that seems to be the problem, sometimes there caan be 3-4 or more vehicles parked here overnight. Mothballs eh....haven't heard that before, might have to investigate. How do I humanely go about removing said balls from aforementioned moth.....: :

ok i take it back dont park on it's tail, just catch it and take it to the vet and get it put down.. i know if someone parked on my hand for ****ing on there car i would not come back...

Just sprinkle pepper on the car. I had a cat on my car all the time, bit of pepper on the car one night and now it sleeps down the road, wont come near the place.

Whatever you do though, DONT sprinkle it into the wind and stand downwind from it. Pepper in your eyes really is painfull.

Well, we have had numerous pets mauled by cats. The thing with cats is, they don't even kill to eat, they just kill for the hell of it. If people are so careless as to let their cats roam around at night killing other peoples pets on their own property and ****ing on their cars then they should be taught a lesson. If it were me it would be a stake through the head, but of course I'm not going to encourage that one. These cats need to be dealt with, they are becoming real pests. I once saw a domestic cat kill a mother magpie in a park while its young was obviously still heavily dependent on it. The thing is though, the owners of the cat (house backed on to park) witnessed the entire thing and didn't bother to do a thing about it. Judging by their reactions its happened several times before, and yet they are still too thick to get the cat a bell.

i have a severe problem with cats, mainly because they have turned under my house into a stench that stinks badly in summer and they also pee and crap all over my wheels cars etc


told my wife i dont care about humane ways or legal binds if i catch them well
take a guess where they aint going ;) :


my problem isnt one cat its a house that left about 10 cats behind and they all have litters of catsand they love peeing and craping under high set houses and they love to urinate all over my spare tyres and my gear so,im merely doing the community a service really :

and to date i havent caught one so :P
