New BF MkII looks a little different.

I'm desperately trying to upload a few pics of the new BF MkII which i'm in the process of birthing into this world. They look very similar to the VY commodore in the front as the bonnet lines, bumper and headlights have been spiced up in a similar fasion. IMHO it looks pretty sweet and very tough, the fairmont ghia comes with the XR body kit minus the XR headlights, i gotta say they look better than the XR. I'm trying to grab a brochure to upload a few decent pics but i'll have to watch myself. I'll see what tomorrow brings.

To be honest, not as good as the Mk1. Looks boring and AU-ish.

Can't say I agree totally, the MK2 is still a bit boring but not as yawn inducing as the the BF MK1.

Yeah the BFII is pretty much a face change. But the BF is a nice car to drive.

I like it but from the back it looks the same i think the Falcon is a bit overdue for an update.

I would still buy it over the holden.

It's not a whole new model it's a series 2/mkII. Orion is where the Falcon will get its update.

I really think this is the way the Ford Designers should have gone, the BA was beginning to look B-A-ORING! At least the AUs had stylish differences, with the BA you didn't know whether its a Fairmont or a Futura! They look so alike!

But that Ghia, boy, its heading in the right direction.

But atleast the FPV studios haven't done much wrong!

Theres a ghia at ford near my house and it looks alot more modern and classy. Still hate the xr skirt they put on it though would prefer a plain straight skirt for the fairmont

I'm still not sure. I am not a big fan of the recessed bonnet lines, how will this look with the bonnet bulge? I saw these before and wondered then are they real pics or just renderings? The side profile is now definitely the weakest link if only because it has been around since 98 and does date the car a little now. I will reserve my judgment until I see it for real.

I have a few questions and concerns that some folk here may be able to answer or at least maybe able to offer an opinion.

I can't wait for Orion. I think that Ford has learnt a very valuable lesson with the AU and from what people have indicated already, the styling will be worth the wait alone. Do people here think that the BF II face lift is leading us to the Orion?

Since these will be difficult times at least in the short term (for everyone) with the cost of fuel driving the small car market, and with the new VE and Camry and the nearly new 380 along with the BF II all trying to take a slice from a smaller cake, should've this latest Falcon been called BG if only to make the punter think that it was a new or newer car than the BA and BF at a time when everyone else has a new offering?

And because of this, could this Falcon become an odd ball model with people having to quote BF II as opposed to just BF for replacement parts? Would this practice of changing sheet metal in the middle of a model been acceptable in the past? How would we feel if the XY was called an XW II or an XB was called an XA II?

Just my thoughts and concerns regarding the immediate future facing Ford at the moment.

The bonnets on the XR6 and XR8 are the same.

Same goes with the headlights and the rest of the front end.

As I said, on it's release, looks nice and all, but don't like the chrome strips.

Ford Oz is slipping back to grandpa status quickly with the excitement of the new commodore and lack of anything worth talking about on the BF.

to me the Mk2 BF looks cluttered and overstyled. like they just decided to wack on as much crap as they could to make it different from the MK1

that said, im sure its still a nice drive blah blah etc etc

Ford didn't really have much left in its bag o tricks for BFII.

Overstyled and tack ons signify the last of that make (look at VZ). Atleast the I6 and the Auto 6 speed are sweeties and are better than anything GM has in that department.

Personally I still think I perfer BF styling. It is for me the peak of the B series. BFII looks a tad over done and BAII was a tad underdone. I see so much nice older BMW and new Audi in it espically the Ghia. Just sucks that BF Ghia colours generally suck.

Don't really mind the Ghia XR's skirts. They I belive were always optional on XT-Ghia (BA-BF) they have just made them standard on the Ghia.

But atleast you can tell the BFII appart from the BF.

I saw a BFII Fairmont Ghia at work yesterday and it looked sweet. I wasn't that impressed with the release photos but seeing it in the metal changed that. It had real presence. The XR rear bumper spoils it a bit though as it doesn't quite match the Ghia numberplate surround and wingless bootlid but the front end looked great.

It's interesting that the BF MkII XR8 is only $1000 more than eqivalent XR6T never before has there pricing been this close. I have always though personally there prices should have been closer now is happened.

I think most peeps got the turbo cus it was way cheaper and the sound of the V8 wasnt worth the extra 5 gran. With ford putting the prices closer, this will just make the decision for enthusiasts a little harder, and maybe get people chossing the XR8
