hey, is anyone keen to share their opinion about automatic falcons,
in particular i am interested to know about ones from the E series mainly the ED and EA automatics,.. strong points and bad points? what 1/4 mile do they do? oh yeha, you would think that a car of this age would have a decent value, but they dun seem to be holding it that well... why is this? cheers for your help

oh tru ayes,
I see your point, hey I know this might seem sarcastic, but in a stock auto falcon can you spin the wheels if you floored it while driving? what are the downfalls of these auto E series falcons? cheers

Bad points
The EF falcon 4 speed uses a very expensive trans fluid if compared to early models - 3 speeds. Services are expensive. 4 speeds are fairly complex in nature: In the old 3 speed even a complete dill could strip and rebuild the box - everything was controlled by the valve body. Just follow the guide, pull it apart replace the packs, bands and seals, put it together and Bob's your Auntie. With the inclusion of CPU controls which are difficult to test or assess by the average backyarder this box is more for the proffessional motor mech than an amateur. This is not to say that an amateur cant do the work once he learns the operations of the system.

My E-series auto will spin the wheels pretty hard on take off without assistance from the brake. But then again, it's not a 6 nor is it stock ;)

With 205's and a single spinner, all early E series Falcons will spin the wheels on take off pretty easily. But with decent rubber or an LSD, with the tall first gear, you'll have trouble spinning them in the dry.

my stock auto EF wagon will spin the 235/45/17 wheel (single spinna) on slick surfaces. does really well with a lil help from the brake! with the stock 195/60/15 wheel and 1.5 sec of brake assistance it a smoke show!
