If this pseudo mechanic works for a multi national, then why not go to his boss.
If you prove your case he will be out the door and your car will be fixed by them.

It would'nt be u/t would it,you might have a problem, but bad publicity implications can help.

No news at the moment, I have a number of things on my plate to deal with at the moment. Although it breaks my heart to see it sitting out the back half pulled down. I'm a little torn as to what to do with it at the moment. The Maddestman and I are having a hard time with it as we're both used to non EFI cars.
I am going to get the information from the mechanic, but from everyone I've spoken to, I don't really have much of a chance of winning. *sigh*
No kidding there's water in all the wrong places! :(

Finally I had an independant mechanic take a look at the car, I told him exactly what happened and he agreed that the mechanic was very negligent indeed and very probably trying to fleece me.

If they hadn't of kept trying to get the motor to crank over and looked for water straight away the motor would very probably be fine now. It would have seized up while at the mechanics and one of the con rods is probably bent. He agreed that they didn't look for water at all even without looking at pictures, nor did they touch the torque convertor. But all this will be my word against theirs.

He didn't want to get involved by writing out an independant mechanics report (probably as he's a small business and is worried about it heading to court even though I assured him that it wasn't).

So it looks like my next step is calling the RACV and getting them to do an independant mechanics report.

Oh well at least I'm getting somewhere now... I think. :

Yeah I'm kicking myself now that I didn't just get the car towed home and ask for ideas on here. :togo:

Oh well hindsight is 20/20 they say.

To get the new motor in I'm going to get the RACV to come out and do a report on the old one, get what the mechanic 'allegedly' did on letter head then go to head office and see what happens from there.
