Hey,
Yesterday I rode shotgun in my mates VX commi for my first House of Commodores cruise. From Homebush in Sydney to the Gong and Mt Kiera. Now this was one of there smallish cruises that was just quickly organised (people were still ringing eachother to tell them about it and to come that morning) and there ended up being over 80 cars, everyone from teenagers to family men with kids in the back. It was a fantastic day out, everyone really had a good time, and some of the cars almost converted me. Now what I dont get is why cant we organise ford cruises like that just for fun. The only really decent cruise we get is once or maybe twice a year for the annual ford days, what about just normal cruises, we are lucky to get 20 cars at alot of them which is bloody pathetic really. Last year for the charity cruise, there was 400 holdens, where were the fords? Are we actually ever going to have decent car cruises on and more often like these guys? 20 cars, pffft. : |

Well one issue is that there are various Ford Car Clubs on here, from e-series to FPV to GT etc etc
They all operate and organise cruises in their clubs individually......... And the only time there is a combined effort is that time of year they are all going to the one event...........

I've never been to a cruise. How's it work? Seriously...
Does everyone just rock up to said start line on the day and basically just take in the sites to the finishing line? Do people there normally know each other?

In Victoria we seem to get more cruises, particularily for the e-series owners club. We usually have a couple of types. We have the Friday / Saturday night ones which are around the suburbs and we have the Sunday day cruises that are usually more scenic (eg. Great Ocean Road, Black Spur, etc.). I usually find the latter more enjoyable, but we get more cars at the former.

Oh man that is gold, lol. Yeah I wonder why we cant get more sometimes. Our cruise group up here is like 10-15 cars, usually the same lot, but they are all great people, and are really friendly. I think for our BBQ last year we had 61 of us, which was awesome.

IMO they proberly get more numbers because of V8 supercars HRT team, toll team and the recent but no longer domination of bathurst. they choose the winning vehicle without much look into what may suit them better. Again, this is only my own opinion. only until recent times has ford got a few more teams that can be competitive.

the charity cruise you mention is the one backed by a major commodore magazine isn't it? A mag which is selling some ~16,000+ copies a month has the reach and pulling power to be able to organise such events.
While a forum may have 20,000 odd members, a small fraction of registered users check regularly - whilst a magazine people buy assumes that the people buying it have some commitment to it in some way, that is how they can draw such a huge event, and believe me the planning that goes into it is massive. However, I'm in no way saying we couldn't get the same sort of attendance - but it would need similar backing from one of the major ford magazines which are out an about, and it will take time to grow too - the SC cruise for charity didn't get to be as massive as it is overnight either...

http://www.fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=156 Also, check individual clubs on the forums (eg. e-series, AUfalcon.com, etc. ) as they will also have an area showing all their upcoming cruises
