Default Crazy Coolant!?!?!?!?!

Every now & then when I get home from a drive in my WQ Fiesta Zetec I can hear the coolant reservoir re-filling itself, kinda sounds like a bubbling noise. Is this a common trait? It doesnt happen all the time & the engine temp gauge is normal so its not overheating. Any thoughts?

I used to have that same problem. I do believe it was from the coolant or something rather moving back from the water pump?

Had you been for a 'spirited' drive before hand? ;)

Yeah that sounds about right, usually after a longish drive home from work in traffic. What did you do about it if anything?

It's normal, and is the water pump releasing pressure back into the system which backs up into the overflow bottle. Get someone to rev the car while you watch it. It does the same thing ;)

Bingo! Thanks Danny - knew it was something like that

This was why my Water Pump failed... causing the coolant to spill over my driveway :

Fair enough. It would be under warrranty though yeah? A water pump should last 10 years really!
