Default JB Hifi to sell HD-DVD players and software from Nov 07

http://www.smarthouse.com.au/HD/HD_DVD/J8T5Q8M5

Should be an interesting stouch between the two formats now over the next 12mths. HD-DVD players starting at $499, id expect the other format to start matching prices for players. Their not far off that now from memory.

hd-dvd vs blueray,
its the one with the biggest purse that will win...

so hd-dvd and the xbox360 it is...

even though its a "wose" technology that needs improvement

they have been available in myer, sanity and Harvey normans for a while i think!

its gonna be a long time before either format gives up i'd say. they seem to be existing well together at the moment.

You mean the PS3? I buy that to play games not watch movies. Just the same as I didn't buy a PS2 to play my DVD's.

sony just sold their processor to toshiba, and sony is in serious financial trouble over the ps3, if the blu-ray loses out i can see them dropping the whole thing together and going with the hd-dvd.

Got any reports to back up sony's financial hardship, because no offense but I doubt it.

If they're going under, how come they just brought out a new Bravia television ad?

That would be because they just updated their LCD line !

LG released their dual format overseas, and it was a flop, played blu ray, but hd dvd side was dodgy, Samsung released their BDP1000 which was apparently more reliable. Be interesting when these dual format players hit here and are affordable.

And speaking of their Bravia LCD tv line, why the hell do the need 5 models ( in the same screen sizes) to choose from? I would have thought 2 or maybe 3 would suffice?

I'm not sure about the Sony brandname itself, but the PS3 division is in the red

Game consoles ALWAYS start in the red, for years usually. I think from memory that the Wii is the ONLY console to make a profit out of the box. PS3's , 360's etc all make a loss from the console, its the games that make the $
